A most thrilling topic of conversation came up at the end of English today (Heavy on the sarcasm). It was the topic if reality TV show Big Brother. Personally I could never see the point of it and it makes a complete mockery of 1984. I must say, I never once suspected that Ms Banks would be able to tale about the current events of the house so well. Teachers are humans too, I suppose, so there’s no reason they shouldn’t get caught up in it. But it really is mind numbingly detestable. Who in their right mind could take delight in watching a group of people make fools of themselves in front of live TV audiences. It’s been going on long enough already and every time it just gets worse and worse. I don’t know how far this has spread around the world no but it certainly seems to have caused a stir in India. This series of “celebrity” Big Brother has seen the return of an earlier housemate, who was awarded celebrity status after coming out one of the earlier Big Brothers. Apparently she, along with a few others have been making racist comments about a Bollywood actress (apologies if there are spelling mistakes but I’m trying to do this before home time). I don’t see what it has to do with the Changeling personally.
I’m afraid I shall have to continue this later because the bell’s about to go.

    Bluebird, I agree with you almost 100 percent. I really do dispise unwise and unintelligent shows that mock what remains of our moralistic world. The reality television show, playfully dubbed "BB" makes a mockery of humans and thrives on human nature. Very distasteful. What is pretty humerous is that while the producers are wallowing in their millions, they have totally missed the point that Orwell was making, which no price can be put on.

    Our world is no longer safe. Our minds were never ours while we put our trust in the media or the leaders of this world. Though I must agree that it has not happened completely, our world is becoming more and more like the world that Orwell has created in his book "1984". So laughable, how the show BB has taken something so bad and tried to make it good. Power controls are so min numbing and blinding, are they not?

    Here are a few of my views on the book, because the show does not even credit further mentioning or opinion.

    * I think George got it right with the media. Exaggeration is needed in this area because I do not think we porbably will realise how bad it is getting. In Australia, our government has been caught so many times with their lies, coincidently always so close to the election year. Edited news reports have been exposed after we have chosen our "great leader" and it is just completely evil. Who can we trust? Definetly not man!

    I have found something which is quite interesting. I suggest people look it up. I believe that we are coming to a "New World Order", where everything will be meshed into one in an attempt to make "peace and safety", exactly what the book shows, instead they will create "war and doom". There is a chip that many governments all over the world are looking at, called the "Verichip" - It will be an inplantable microchip, inserting most probably into the arm. It will store all our financial and personal information. How far will the government go? And what are they not telling us about it? Can we trust them? I mean, this could be a tracking device, and most probably will be used as such. Hence, the government having complete control over us. Was George was off in his book? See for yourself.
