Chapter III
I’m Alive
But their plans changed when a horrible storm hit the island the very next day. Without warning the sky became a dark gray roaring cloud. Lighting shattered the sky. Rain poured down and the water rose. All around Alyssa and Daniel they could hear the trees crash, the sliding of rocks and mudslides, and the dreadful rain. Both prayed that there tree wouldn’t snap like all the other trees around them. Even though their tree was wide it was hollow.
The storm seemed to be dieing and Alyssa and Daniel were not as tense. Their tree would make it! Or least so they thought. All to soon there was a horrific snapping sound right above them, their tree started to fall. As soon as this took place the storm let up. Both children dashed outside. They couldn’t believe what they saw. A vine had caught the tree! Of course it snap any minute, so Alyssa and Daniel quickly started to gather more. They climbed up trees tossing and tying vines together. They couldn’t fly because the wind was still too strong. Daniel went inside, climbed up to where the hole was (where the tree had started to break) and covered it with a piece of cloth. The he slid down as Amanda ran up to him.
“I think there is going to be another storm,” she said.
She was right. There was going to be another storm. And even thought the first was horrific the second one was going to be even worse. Its clouds were black with a green and purple tint. Alyssa and Daniel tried to secure the tree as much as they could possibly do. They tied the tree from top to bottom. Nailing vines to the tree and the ground.
The storm hit the island with mighty power. Alyssa and Daniel ran inside. They just sat at the door watching the rainfall, the thunder roar, and the lighting shatter. And every time they heard a tree fall they began to shutter. It was a terrifying site. Several hours passed, the storm had not let up at all, but the tree staid firm. Both the children were tired. Then, twang, a vine snapped, without thinking, Daniel ran out, Alyssa soon followed after a moments hesitation. Her legs sunk deep in to the mud with her first steps.
“Over there!” Daniel shouted barely above the storm so she could hear him. He pointed to a breaking vine.
Alyssa rushed over to it and grabbed it. She was already drenched and covered with mud. The wind pushed against back, as if trying to make her fall. Water rushed around her. But she stood firm. Twang! Went her vine. She started to feel herself fall forward; she squeezed her eyes shut, ready to hit the mud in any given moment. But before she knew it, something had caught the rest of the vine she had been holding. She quickly braised her feet again then looked back to see what had caught her. It was Daniel. She smiled a quick, weak smile of relief. Somehow, they never knew, they secured the vine again.
But they had little time for rejoicing, for the storm kept on raging and the vines kept on snapping. Both of them fell at least twice when an unexpected vine would break. The storm had no mercy on them. Their hands were now covered with blisters, that soon pop and bleed, and their hands were also raw. Daniel and Alyssa were tired and hungry. Would it ever end? They wondered. Or would it last forever. This always flashes threw peoples mind during hard times. But as of always, it never comes true and the storm finally did pass, for good. When it did the sun finally appeared. In most suneriose when the sun appears every one rejoices and it is so beautiful. Don’t get me wrong they were very happy.
“ But look at all the damage,” Daniel pointed out.
Every thing was either in mud, broken, wet, or in most cases all three. Alyssa and Daniel looked around with horror and disbelief of what just happened. Chills ran up their back.
Out of nowhere Alyssa felt a tear slip down her cheek. She touched it with her muddy, bloody fingers; then the most bizarre thing happened; she started to laugh. Daniel looked at her with question and wonder. What was up with her?
“Why are you laughing?” he asked in bewilderment.
“I’m alive!” she laughed. Daniel didn’t get it at first, but when he did it was a sight to see.
And even though the conditions were horrible, they laughed and shouted. They were alive.

Chapter IV
The Happenings of the Steal
It had been three days since the storm. All had been mended as best could be done. Daniel and Alyssa had decided to attack the pirate ship.
“We should cut your hair.” Daniel said rummaging through his cloths.
He threw Alyssa a top and a pair of pants.
“No way!” Alyssa shouted.
“I’m telling you, what happens if they notice your long hair?”
“Then they’ll just think I’m a boy with long hair.”
Daniel rolled his eyes as she walked into the tent.
“Here take this,” he said as he threw her a hat. “You might as well cover your hair.”
Alyssa looked at him smartly and then walked into the tent. When she walked out of the tent her hair was swept off her neck and covered by the hat. If you had looked at her with a quick glance you would of thought she was a boy.
_____
Alyssa swooped down across the main pirates on the deck. The storm had passed three days ago and now the weather was wonderful, especially for flying. She loved flying! Alyssa heard Daniel call her name and she pivoted toward him.
“Here!” he cried as he flung a sword at her, which she caught her left hand.
“Thanks!” she yelled as she grabbed it and thrust it into one of the pirates. But flew up before any one could lay a hand on her. What fun she was having! She switched hands.
She and Daniel busied themselves with the fighting for about an hour or so. Many pirates lay on the ground dead or severely injured. Yet nether of the children had a scratch on them. And like any human would they became tired and not as focused.
“Should we go back?” Daniel wondered to Alyssa.
“ No, were almost done. We won’t give up!” Alyssa answered.
But it wouldn’t have been giving up, but just simply taking a break. Foolishly they kept on fighting. Then Daniel tired to show off, I don’t have clue why, and went on the deck and spinned quickly up. But before he realized it a pirate cut the bottom of his right leg.
He cried out in pain (although it wasn’t deep). Alyssa quickly turned toward him to see why he had yelled.
“What is- Ouch!” she herself had been caught by rope by a pirate an her left arm. Making her drop her sword. She could hear the pirates below laughing. Then pirate threw another rope on her left. She tried to brake lose by pulling on it. But it only made the rope titer.
“Daniel! Help!” she cried.
Although he was in great pain he tried to help. His leg was badly bleeding. He flew over
toward her and cut the rope of her leg. But before he could cut off the one on her arm, she was pulled down lower and had another rope thrown on her right. Daniel was about to cut the rope again but before he could he heard the sound of several guns go off. Then he felt a bullet just go by his head, brushing threw his hair. That was close.
Alyssa saw how much his leg was hurting and bleeding.
“Go back!” she yelled.
“What?”
“Go back! Your hurt! Leave me!”
“I can’t leave you here!”
“Yes, you can! Go back!”
“But-”
“Just go back! Now!”
Daniel listened and flew slowly off. He looked back. And Alyssa was pulled down to the pirates. Daniel couldn’t see her now; that was the worst mistake he ever had ever made. The pirates shouted with joy. She stopped struggling and allotted herself to the pirates. Their rowdy hands gabbed her so hard. She was viciously thrown to and fro until they reached what looked like the captains chamber. They flung open the door and casted her in. they slammed the door shut.
She weakly pulled herself up to see where she was. It was a large room with a red carpet in the middle. It was dark. At one corner of the room there was a table and bed. At the other end was a desk with books and paper and a giant quill pen. Even though that the room was large for a ship there wasn’t room for any thing more.
She heard voices outside the door. Alyssa went up to it to hear what they had to say. Maybe even see what they were going to do to her.
“Why in the devils name did you through the enemy in my room!” a handsome voice said.
“’Cause we thought ya would like to see who ya were going to kill, Captain,” a grody voice said.
“You could of just thrown him in the cells you idiots!” the handsome voice, obviously the captains, said, “ That wretch could be stealing and wrecking my goods.”
“Don’t worry,” the other voice said, “ he was just a youngster.”
“What in the name of heck does that have to with anything? And if he’s a youngster he could be out my window!” the captain said.
“ Sorry, captain-”
Out of nowhere there was a shot of a gun, making Alyssa jump.
“You stooped men,” the captain said, “ I’ll just deal with it myself.”
All of a sudden, without warning, the door flung open, knocking Alyssa to the ground. When she fell to the floor her hat fell off, revealing her hair. The captain slammed the door shut then looked down with disgust.
“So not only do you kill my men but you listen at door ways to my conversations! I can easily fix you!” he said as he re-cocked his gun then faced it toward Alyssa. Alyssa closed her eyes shut. The captain was just about to pull the trigger when he noticed her long hair. The Captain new better to shoot a lady (Alyssa was in that category). Of course he didn’t do it for sympathy but out of mere fear of being punished by the Almighty. (Even pirates fear God in the sense of being punished at the spot.) He lowered his gun and bent down, picking Alyssa up by her shoulder. Alyssa struggled to get free, but his hand wouldn’t let go. And she had to stop because of the pain in her shoulder from the nails digging into her skin. She bit her lip to keep from crying out in pain.
“Well! What do we have here?” he said turning her around to look at her. She dropped her face from his. “A girl! And a pretty one at that. Well let me properly introduce myself.” Giving a bow he said, “I am Captain Andrew Black and this is my ship the Steal.”
She tried to strike him. But before she could even get her hand a foot to his face he caught her hand.
“What pretty hands you have.” he exclaimed with a devilish smirk on his hideous face. He had scar across the side of his left eye and up his neck. Strangely enough his skin wasn’t that leathery but just a dark tan. His hair was a deep burnt brown. His eyebrows were thick and smooth. And his eyes could strike fear and enchantment at the same time. They were a deep, dark ivory green; so dark that they looked black. The iris was large and the pupil thin, like a cats eye. You couldn’t see much of the white and what you could see of it was more of a red. When he lunged his sword into his dearly hated adversary, which was who ever fought against him, his eyes would light up and his pupil would get even thinner. Alyssa trembled in his grip with pain and fear. “ They’re so soft. Hmmm. Your eyes are a nice almond color, too.” he ran his fingers through her. Making Alyssa shivered with disgust. “Silky hair, also.”
“Keep your hands off me!” she couldn’t help but shout as she tried to yank herself out of his grip.
“Oh pardon me, where are my manners.” he let go of her. “ I haven’t been around any lady for quite some time. I should leave.”
Then he gave her a warning look.
“But I will have no tolerance for any trouble.”
He walked out leaving behind a frightened girl.
_____
Meanwhile Daniel finally hit the shore. He collapsed to the ground at the spot. He woke up to see Latanya and Fushia by his side, bandaging his bloody leg.
“Ouch! Not so tight!” he cried.
Latanya fluttered around and said some things.
“It wasn’t that bad of a fight. How long have I been out for?”
More fluttering about.
“3 hours!” He said in shock.
Then Fushia started to flutter around also speaking very solemnly.
“Alyssa! I almost forgot!”
Daniel tried to get to his feet but the pain in his leg made him fall back down to the ground. He tried again but only for failure. Latanya started to flutter around again.
“Stay here! But what about Alyssa? She’s still on the ship.”
Latanya fluttered rapidly.
“Fine. How long will I have to stay here? Three days! I’m not hurt that bad. One.”
Latanya started to bargain with him.
“Deal. Two days. But can Fushia at least go and tell Alyssa I’m fine and make sure she’s ok?”
She agreed.
“Thanks.”
