God's Timing

Rate this Entry
The difference between God's sense of humor and Satan's is that God's little jokes are uplifting and point the soul to Him in appreciation while Satan's creates much much drama but no wisdom learned.

The faithful few amongst my readers may pick up from time to time that lawn mowing is not my favorite chore on a day off. Also that I've been stalling.

Surprise surprise the back yard is done but the front yard is already mocking me with the weeds well on their way to Seqouiaville.

But--

Before I do the lawn I hit the Bookery - late for me- grab $18 worh of stuff: New Avengers, New Avengers/Transformers #1 and Green Lantern 21 with the Sinestro Corps War storyline I'm following for the duration.

Make promises to God I'll mow the back yard, then read Spurgeon--THEN read Avengers--a great proponent of the earn your Brownie points to Heaven spirit was lost when I decided GRACE is the plan of salvation.

The lawn gets mowed with faithful dog Onyx providing the cheerleading, the shower taken and the Metropolitan Tabernacle was picked up for today's reading.

Now for this to work and make sense you must know that I do NOT look ahead anymore at sermon titles (used to in the earlier books) but have preferred being surprised with what each new day brings. I also believe God's timing, humor and glory are in His perfect hands.

Without further ado:

MTP Volume 55, 1909, #3129---The King's Mowings from Amos 7:1.

It's a great day to be alive and in Him.

Great blog entry mtspur. I was hooked with your openning line:

The difference between God's sense of humor and Satan's is that God's little jokes are uplifting and point the soul to Him in appreciation while Satan's creates much much drama but no wisdom learned.
That strikes me as pretty profound and original.

I've noticed you've grown alot closer to God since your diagnosis. So, every cloud has its silver lining, as the old cliche goes. I have to admit GRACE does save but "What shall we say then? Shall we go on sinning?" and all that from Romans. You're a Calvinist so you probably know what I mean. It still tickles me that someone you're age likes reading comic books...it's terribly cute, you know? C
