Moments in time

I suppose this is the after effects of Mrs.Dalloway and The Hours and thinking about them for my book club but I’ve been thinking about those moments that so define a mood or a day or place, the little snap shots you carry around your entire life that in some way go into defining who you are , who you always were and will be.
I saw a house today and it started me thinking about the inevitable question on my interview what is your favourite season? and trying to follow up after Tal’s truly amazing answer and then I looked around and it hit, the beautiful wonder of the moment, as it does sometimes.
Winter makes landscapes more real some how more there and all the background noise, us, the cars all seem to become insignificant. The houses with there ugly redness stand out as more 3-d against the metallic backdrop of North England winter sky. And as your walking along you can hear the wind behind as if its some pixie or fairy running to catch up in the bushes and then suddenly its over taken you and dancing on the ground in front of you and yet somehow you never actually feel it or see it pass you. And all that makes you think, " My God, look at this feel this, this is IT. This is the reason we are alive. THIS is what we are meant to see to feel. ” Even if we can’t understand it.
Or the desert in the mornings so full of colour and life and scent so unlike anything else. Being there when the fog- that is so cold, so dense that even though its august your wrapped up in all the bedding and you’ve had to pull over because you cant see to drive- lifts and the sun comes out and the colours begin come through its like witnessing the birth world all this beauty coming out of nothing. It’s a Miracle, an everyday one, but t makes something inside swell and all the world seems to stop for just that minute in time and shout remember me! Remember this, and whenever I feel practically bad just pulling out one of those moments to look at , to savour again and that makes my world alright .
