Geo-engineering

I read the news today, oh boy. I ran across this article suggesting that there should be geo-engineering of the atmosphere to reverse anthropogenic global warming. https://www.seeker.com/earth/climate...88798911141629
This isn't the first or only article or paper about the matter. I remember reading about ways to cool the Earth as far back as the 1970's. Unfortunately, it would be relatively easy to cool the Earth. Volcanoes regularly put out enough sulfuric acid to do that job every few years, and there was the year without a Summer in 1817 that was caused by the explosion of Tambura, and about 71,000 years ago there was the Toba explosion, which is thought to have caused a mini ice age for several years and to have caused a bottleneck in human population, with the population having been substantially reduced. While it would be possible, it would not be a good idea, because people do not have a good understanding of how the atmosphere works, and it is based on the assumption that the Anthropogenic Climate Change theory is correct; that assumption is contrary to the evidence that is available.

Volcanoes and asteroids will happen, and either could be a major catastrophe, but creating an artificial catastrophe is madness. There are people who play Russian roulette, but they have no business playing Russian roulette with the rest of us as the targets.

But I don't know which method would be used, and the results would vary dramatically depending on which method would be used. Shading could be done the way that volcanoes do it; that is with sulfuric acid. And using plastic sheets as shades has also been mentioned. Plastic sheets in orbit would be expensive, but it would be possible to take them out of action quickly, but the sulfuric acid would be a gamble, because we don't know how effective it would be this time; it might be different from the aerosols from volcanoes.

But the fundamental problem is that some people are sure that they are right, even though they have no firm evidence, just a lot of assertions and hypotheses. If it is going to use tax dollars, then real proof should be required. And saying it's true, because our computer models say so is not proof of anything. At present, the evidence indicates that the Earth's temperature is in an ordinary climate cycle (see the biocab.org link below). Beyond cycles, we should remember that water vapor is the main greenhouse gas and as temperatures rise more water vapor is taken into the atmosphere, and that leads to a limiting process. More water vapor creates more clouds, and clouds reflect sunlight.

The ACC hypothesis is very good, if you are looking for something to worry about, because there is no substance to it; the data has been fudged, and logic was ignored. If it is your biggest worry, then you should be a very happy person, because it is nothing. Alas, accepting delusions like ACC may be a symptom of mental illness.

The situation is worse than I realized. This article says that there are plans to test geo-engineering in the world in the near future. Let us hope that it is a complete failure.

There is a fair amount of discussion, but it doesn't appear that there is a clear consensus on the matter, and there won't be a clear consensus until there is a good proof that humans activity has caused any change to the temperature of the atmosphere. The biocab.org article below makes a pretty clear that humans haven't caused warming.

Even if it were certain that human activity caused climate change, we should be very hesitant about causing more climate change in reverse it. It would be very easy to overshoot and start an ice age. It is also possible that an attempt to do one thing might somehow cause the opposite to happen, and we might have global warming caused by human activity.
