Peace and mercy of Allah be on you......Allah the Exalted says in Holy Quran about Holy Prophet (s.a.w.) :
Translation: [ch3:v 32] Say (O People), ‘If you love Allah, follow me: (then) will Allah love you and forgive you your faults. And Allah is Most Forgiving, Repeatedly Merciful.
To get Nearness of Allah the Exalted, His listening to our prayers, creation of His love in our hearts, Allah the Exalted has mentioned a principle that you can get these things if you follow the model of the Messenger (peace and blessings of Allah be on him).
It is the favour of Allah the Exalted that He conveyed to us all those things which Holy Prophet (s.a.w.) used to practice, through Sahabah (Companions, r.a.).
==
But it is essential to understand that He (s.a.w.) used to do and say all those things which Allah the Exalted has mentioned in Holy Quran. When Hazrat Aisha (r.a.) was asked what were his (s.a.w.) morals and practices, she mentioned his model in three extremely beautiful words “kana kholoqohul quran”; his morals and practices were those, what the great Book Holy Quran is comprised of.
==
As further favour to us, in this age, Allah the Exalted sent His envoy, the sincere servant of Holy Prophet (s.a.w.) and Imam of age The Promised Messiah - The Covenanted Mahdi (a.s.) who gave us more understanding of the station of Prophets and especially the best example set by Holy Prophet (s.a.w.).
==
Hazrat Promised Messiah (a.s.) says: “It should be remembered what is the purpose of coming of Prophets, Messengers and Imams, they do not come to the world that they should be worshiped. They want to establish worship of One God and come for this very purpose and for, so that people should follow their perfect model, and make effort to be like them, and follow (Prophets) in manner that as if (people) become them [metaphor]. But it is sad that some people leave the real purpose of their coming, and consider then God. By this, those Imams and Messengers cannot be happy that people respect them that much. Never! they do not pronounce it any cause of happiness. Their true happiness is in it, that people should follow them and get established at teaching they present that worship true God and be firm at Tauheed. Therefore Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be on him) was commanded [ch3:from v 32] Qul inkuntum tohibbonallaha fattabooni yohbibkomullaho ……..i.e O Messenger them if you love Allah the Exalted, follow me. The result of this following will be that Allah the Exalted will love you…..It is clearly known from it that the method to become the beloved of God the Exalted, is that true following of Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be on him) should be done. Thus this thing should always be remembered that Prophets (on them be peace), and like it, the other righteous and sincere servants of God the Exalted, they come to the world as being a model. The person who do not try to follow this model but get ready to prostrate before them and believe them fulfiller of needs, he is never worthwhile near God the Exalted. Instead he will see that after the death that Imam will be averse to him.”
==
Thus the earliest thing which Prophets teach is establishment of Tauheed (Oneness of God). Holy Prophet (s.a.w.) was granted the highest position to do this service. And he (s.a.w.) produced this passion in his believers, and we find its great examples in his (s.a.w.) Sahabah (r.a.). They (r.a.) received direct blessing from Holy Prophet (s.a.w.), observed his station of servitude to Allah, saw his yearning for establishment of Tauheed, saw his love for Allah the Exalted and levels of worships. This thing developed yearning for real Tauheed in them too.
==
As already mentioned, there is the role of Sahabah (may Allah be pleased with them) too in conveying the model of Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be on him) to us. Rather it is very big role and favour.
At one occasion, Hazrat Umar (r.a.) was swearing on his father. Holy Prophet (s.a.w.) heard it and said: “Listen Allah the Exalted has stopped you to swear on fathers. The one who need to swear, he should swear to Allah or remain silent.”
Thus except Allah the Exalted, any other kind of swearing is not permitted. Some people swear on children, near ones and dear ones. They think, these are our dears, if they swear on them, others will believe them. A Momin should always remember these things take away from Tauheed.
==
Once an asker asked that O Messenger of Allah (s.a.w.), someone fights for sake of his honour, someone fights to show his bravery, someone fights to get leftover things in war, who among them would be Jihad-doer? He (s.a.w.) said the person who fights so that Kalimah of Allah the Exalted is raised, and Tauheed is established, in fact he would be counted as Jihad-doer in the path of Allah the Exalted.
Thus every act which is to establish Tauheed, Allah the Exalted likes it and for establishing such act Holy Prophet (s.a.w.) was sent.
==
Once when leaders of Mecca, called Holy Prophet (s.a.w.) for dialogue, he (s.a.w.) thought maybe now they are thinking rightly and they desire to come at the right path so he (s.a.w.) went there hurriedly….. All those leaders unanimously said, O Muhammad (s.a.w.), we called you for talk, we do not know anyone from Arabs who have put his nation in such trouble as you have done so. You call our gods bad, you have made pieces of our community, things have gone wrong due to you. If your purpose is to gather wealth, we offer you so much that you would become the richest in nation. If you want to be leader, we make you our leader.
He (s.a.w.) said you misunderstood me, neither of these things are in me, nor I want apparent honour and fame. I am sent by God the Exalted as a Messenger, the Book is revealed to me and I am commanded that I should give glad tidings and warnings by being Bashir and Nazir, and establish Tauheed. So I have conveyed to you the Message of God the Exalted. If you accept it, then, in it there is your benefit. And if you do not accept it then be patience and I shall do so too till God the Exalted will decide among us.
Then the world saw how Allah the Exalted decided and how Tauheed was established.
==
About the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.)’s servitude to Allah, our Master Hazrat Promised Messiah (on whom be peace) says:
“See by reading the Holy Quran, other things apart, model of any perfect human, superior than our Gracious Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be on him), is not present in world and can not be in future till Qayamat. Then, see, despite the grant of at-Will miracles (iqtidari mo’jzat) , servitude to Allah always remained with Huzur. And [he] repeatedly said “innamaa anaa basharum mislokum” [surely I am a human like you] . Even that [he] declared Kalima e Tuaheed too an essential part of admittance of his servitude to Allah, without which a Muslim cannot be Muslim. Ponder and again ponder. So, the state of the way of life of the Perect-Guide is giving us this lesson that even after reaching to the highest station of Nearness, he did not lose admission of station of servitude to Allah from hand. Then anyone else thinking so and to bring such things in heart is useless and is in vain.”
==
Thus it the understanding which Hazrat Promised Messiah (on whom be peace) gave us that when a Muslim announces “ashhado an la elaha illallah” [I bear witness that there is none worthy of worship except Allah] then this announcement is essential too that “ashhado anna muhammadan abdohu wa rasoloh” [I bear witness that surely Muhammad is His servant and His Messenger]. So, when the Perfect-Prophet is servant of Allah, then how can be the act of those people declared permitted who, by giving more station than servitude to Allah to Pirs and Faqirs (saints and monk likes), prostrate at their graves. Rather it is severe sin and Shirk.
It is the favor of Allah the Exalted that He granted us strength to believe in Hazrat Promised Messiah (a.s.) who granted us the true understating of basic point, the Tauheed, and Holy Prophet (s.a.w.)’s servitude to Allah, and cleaned us from all kinds of Shirk.
==
Our Master Hazrat Promised Messiah (on whom be peace) says:
“ So I always see with the sight of surprise that this Arabic Prophet whose name is Muhammad, thousands and thousands times Durud and Salam be on him, he is Prophet of what a supreme station. The utmost limit of his supreme station cannot be known, and to estimate his sacred effect is not the work of human. Alas! as the right of recognition is, his status is not recognized. That Tauheed, which had been lost from the world, he is the brave one, who brought it back in the world again. He loved God at extreme degree. And at extreme degree, in sympathy of humanity his soul melted.That is why God who knew the secret of his heart, granted him superiority over all Prophets and all earliers and latters and fulfilled his intentions in his life.”
==
Hazrat Khalifatul Messiah V (may Allah be his Helper) further said: The acme of establishment of Tauheed happens at time when human pays rights of worship of Allah the Exalted too. And regarding this too, my Master Hazrat Muhammad Rasulullah (peace and blessings of Allah be on him) obtained the highest station, for which Allah the Exalted gave attestation like this: “allazi yara heena taqum wa taqallobaka fissajedeen” [ch26] Who He sees you when you stand and your restlessness among those who prostrate……....Thus Allah the Exalted is announcing that O Muhammad (s.a.w.), restless sajdah like yours is not present among all those who do sajdah. By establishing Tauheed, you have made such Community of sincere ones [i.e. Sahabah] which was unique in offering worships too, their nights would pass in offering worships. But all these worships and prostrations were efforts to own the models of your prostrations. We see yearning of Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be on him) for the establishment of Tauheed in restlessness in these prostrations. We also find that he (s.a.w.) wanted to develop such sajdah-doers in his followers who bow only before Allah the Exalted with purity, and worship Him and expel false deities dwelling in hearts.
==
Once Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be on him) said that each Prophet has a desire and my hearty desire is to worship at night. A relator states that he saw Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be on him) offering Salaat. At that time, by intensity of crying and groaning, such sound was coming from his bosom as sound comes from stoned hand-mill. Likewise a narration tells that sound would come as if handi (earthen cooking pot) is boiling.
Hazrat Ume Salmah (r.a.) says that he (peace and blessings of Allah be on him) would sleep for some time, then would wake up and remain busy in offering Salaat, then sleep then wake up. This state would continue till morning.
Hazrat Aisha (r.a.) states that if he (s.a.w.) missed to offer Tahajjud due to illness or for some other reason, then he (s.a.w.) would offer 12 rak’at nawafil in the day.
Holy Prophet (s.a.w.) had the desire and expectation from his followers, that they should offer worships and fulfill its right.
Once Hazrat Aisha (r.a.) -- under the effect of wish of Holy Prophet (s.a.w.) that levels of worship of his Ummat should be increased – advised that Do not leave qayamul lail (Tahajjud), because Rasul Allah (s.a.w.) would not leave it. And when he (s.a.w.) would become ill he would offer Salaat in sitting.
Narrations state if Tahajjud was left, he (s.a.w.) would offer 12 nawafil in day.
This situation may have occurred rarely. Otherwise one day, while Sahabah were feeling effect of illness at his (s.a.w.) face, he said: “Despite weakness, tonight too I recited lengthy Surahs.”
==
In all worships and prayers, Holy Prophet (s.a.w.) focused upon that his Ummat should become real worship-offerer, and be steadfast in bowing before their God. His (s.a.w.) Companions saw his this yearning, and absorbed effect of his company and owned his model. Then those who used to be Mushrik turned into such worship-offerer that they became models for future comers. They were revolutionized.
Regarding this, Hazrat Promised Messiah (on whom be peace) says:
“ I say very forcefully, whether one is foe of any firmness and whether he is Christian or Arya, when he will see these condition which were of Arabia before Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be on him) and when he will turn his gaze to this change which was developed by his teaching and effect, then spontaneously he will have to give testimony of his truthfulness. It is simple thing that Quran e majid has drawn their this picture previous state that “yakoluna kama takolul anam” [from 47:13, that there work was to eat like animals]. It was their state of disbelief. Then when holy effects of Holy Prophet (s.a.w.) produced change in them, their state become “yabituna lerabbehim sujjadaon wa qayama” [from 25:65] that is they spent nights in prostration and standing before their Lord.
The change which Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be on him) brought in savages of Arabia, and from which ditch brought then to what height and station --by seeing the picture of all this state, human weeps spontaneously that what a magnificent revolution he brought. It’s precedent cannot be found in any history and in any nation. It is not only story. These are events, whose truth was to be admitted by an age.”
==
And to establish this very truth, Allah the Exalted sent Hazrat Promised Messiah (on whom be peace). Thus it is our duty too that we should raise levels of our worships, and follow that model which has to remain established till Hereafter.
Narrations are mentioned about nawafil, if this state and guidance is about nawafil then how much regularity is needed in Fraiz (obligatory Salaat)? Thus each of us need to make self review and ponder at it.
==
Prophets come in the world to spread truth, and to make their follow walk on truth, to make them bow towards true God. In it too, Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be on him) was granted the highest station. Since childhood, this quality was so much prominent in him that foe too admitted his truthfulness. Once, leaders of Quraish gathered. Among them, the most severe foes of Holy Prophet (s.a.w.) Abu Jahl and Nazar bin Harris were present. When it was said about him (s.a.w.) that he should be defamed as magician, liar or false, then Nazar bin Harris stood and said O Quraish such a matter is brought before you to contend it, you are unable to bring forward any plan. Muhammad (s.a.w.) was youth among you, and you liked him most, he was the most truthful speaker from all, he was the most trustworthy among you. Now you see white hair at his temples. And for message he brought, you said at that he is a liar and magician. We have seen lairs and magicians. You said he is fortune-teller, we have seen fortune-teller too. You said he is poet, we have seen poets too. You said he has become an insane, we have seen insanes too. Neither he is a liar, nor he is a magician, nor a une-fortune-teller, nor a poet, nor an insane. So think about it, you are dealing a great matter here.
Once Abu Jahl addressed to Holy Prophet (s.a.w.), I do not call you a liar, I consider your teaching a lie. Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be on him) said that I have lived so long among you, but you have never proved any lie of me. So today, will I speak lie in matter of this teaching, about God the Exalted?
==
Hazrat Promised Messiah (on whom be peace) says:
“ Prophet are the people, who, by presenting strong proof of their perfect truthfulness, accused their foes too. As this blame is in Holy Quran, it is presented by Hazrat Khatamul Ambiya (peace and blessings of Allah be on him) where it is said ‘ faqad labisto fikum omaram min qablehi aafala taqelun” i.e. I am not like that, that I speak lie and fabricate. Look! I have been living since 40 years among you before that. Have you ever proven any lie from me or fabrication? Then do not you have enough understanding, that is, the understanding that the one who have not spoken any kind of lie till day, now why he is going to lie about God? In short, Prophets’ events of life and there peaceful-way is such self-evident truth and proven that if by leaving aside, only their events are seen, their truthfulness is being illumined by their events. For example if any judge and wise --closes eyes from all these proofs and arguments of truth of Prophethood of Hazrat Khatumul Ambiya (peace and blessings of Allah be on him) – only ponders at his circumstances, then doubtlessly by pondering at these very circumstances he will believe by heart about him being true prophet. And why he should not believe? Those events are perfumed with perfect truth and purity that the hearts of truth seeker spontaneously are pulled to them. Of his truth, his childhood too is witness, his youth too, and after the Prophethood its magnificence has reached to its perfection.”
Thus the believers of this Prophet need to review themselves too that what should be levels of their truthfulness?
