Why Something So Simple Has To Be So Difficult

I tend to do most of my writing on my computer, and now that I have an ipad, which is quite a convenient and useful device I have recently been thinking that it would be cool, and come in handy if I could download an app on my ipad that would allow me to use Dropbox to be able to easily edit and save the writing projects which I have one my computer and that way it would be easy for me to work on and edit my writing at any time, anywhere, being that I am not in the habit of traveling with my computer because even though it is a laptop I find it would be inconvenient to lug it around with me, but I usually will take my ipad with me when I am going to be out of town. And even just around the house the ipad is lighter, smaller and more convenient to use if I do get a sudden burst of inspiration but don't feel like sitting at the computer desk.

I thought to myself that finding a simple, easy to use word processing app that can sync with Dropbox and allows you to edit word documents should be an easy thing to find.

As it turns out it is in fact a ridiculously impossible thing to find. Of course part of the problem is that I preferably would like to be able to find a free app to do what I want and most the apps out there make you pay for an upgrade to access the Dropbox feature. Now I get it that the people who make the apps want to earn a profit but the thing that is really irritating is the fact that I really am not looking for anything fancy, and I don't need a bunch of extra features, and all the bells and whistles. I really want something very basic, very simple and many of the apps will give all these extra features for free that I do not want or need, but the only feature I do want they make you pay for.

It makes me wish there was some sort of exchange program, where I could say all I want is for this app to synch with Dropbox and allow me to edit word docs, so if you will give me that you can disable all these other features.

There other half of the problem is there are a bunch of apps that would be perfect for what I want, and I really like their basic set-up, and they give you Dropbox compatibility, but they only work for PDFs of Plain Text files.

I also get really annoyed with the fact that, most apps will have a little thing that says "Offers In App Purchases" and in the description of the app will tell you what features you get for free, and what features you have to pay additionally for, but there are some apps that don't tell you that they have in app purchase, they just say free, so you assume all the features they list are a part of the free app, but then of course when I download it, the first thing that comes up is telling me to buy an upgrade (even though no where in the app description do they tell you that you need an upgrade).

I don't know how many different apps I have downloaded and then ended up deleting because it would not work for this reason or that.

I might just breakdown and find a good one to buy.
