25th and a little beyond

So. I decided to take a break after Christmas and just couldn't be bothered to write anything sooner than now. In truth I'm only doing it now because I'm bored.
I had a pretty good Christmas day. Stayed up too late on Christmas eve so I could have only had about 3 hours sleep, in truth I'm not sure it was even one.
You see, she got the turkey on Christmas eve and it was a big but quite ugly bird. Still had little stumps of feathers. Also, when we opened it up there were some flaky bits on it and some thick yellowish looking skin which turned out to just be fat. I really thought some lazy bugger had given us a diseased bird. Whoever plucked the thing sure as hell was lazy. I leant mum my craft tweezers to try and pluck some of the feathers. But in the end we didn't use the skin, because of the feathers. Normally she'd give it to the dog or something but didn't want to risk it this year which was a shame because it came out really crispy.
Napoleon came round early, when I wasn't ready, so had to wait around for me, for about half that time he was fixing the kitchen light that blew the electrics earlier. We went to see my uncle this year. I was so pleased. We helped him fix his TV. He recently got a smart TV. Still don't see the point of them but anyway.
We dropped him off for his Christmas lunch and came home. Mum still wasn't back and I knew mum hoped to have the table cleared before we got back. On this day. This one day Yuki decided to make her walk for 2 hours. So while Napoleon was distracted talking to a neighbour I dashed about fixing the table up as much as possible before he got in. Of course, because mum was out with the dog for so long the turkey over cooked and got a little dry, or so we thought.
We stabbed it a few times looking for the clear juices to come out but there were none to be found. After a little more probing one deep stab wound revealed a little juice. So I got a spoon and started basting the thing with the juice in the tray, all the while thinking about a turkey baster I'd seen when we went shopping a few days before. Because the bird was so big it was hard to get around it with the spoon. But it all worked out.
Mum did the dinner. I set up the table. Napoleon sat on his arse watching TV, complaining that it was cold and hanging around the kitchen "because it's warmer" mum hates him being in there, mainly because they've been storing stuff in there for as long as I can remember and we've added to it since he moved out. Basically it's a bit of a dump. Also he'd be getting in the way. He wanted a pre-dinner refreshment of lemonade so I gave him a glass. But instead of putting in less than half like last year and being called "stingy" I put in about a quarter of water to reduce the bubbles this year. It's just so that he doesn't get a stomach of gas and end up leaving half his food like he has in previous years. He seemed to be none the wiser.
We had a pleasant Christmas dinner. I didn't end up knocking any glasses over this year which is good. The turkey was actually pretty moist and not too dry at all, so either we were worried for nothing or the basting worked.
So. Things I got. Hard to believe but I'm having trouble remembering now, since I've found a home for everything and it's nicely assimilated into the household. There were 4 t-shirts, two Black Butler, one Totoro and one Deathnote. I also got some cute lights in star and moon shapes, I just put them up in my room today and they're really pretty. There was also a coat that she was worried would be too small but is okay and a really cool vampire bat/cat hoodie that was too big but I really like it and the fact that the sleeves are so long keeps my hands warm. It actually fits pretty well, just a little baggy in the middle. I call it Vampire cat. I also got a pretty neat little polypropylene shelving unit.
It's actually kind of funny. Mum thought it was a little set of drawers, because the instructions are in Japanese, I know because I Googled it, that's how I know it's polypropylene. But it came with clear pictorial directions. She intended it to be for all my craft stuff, but I could see by the diagrams that it was shelving and thought it would be better for my tower of manga books beside my bed, seriously, if I didn't have them pinned against the inside frame of my wardrobe they would've crushed me by now.
So I spent an hour or so, while those two were sat watching some of and discussing Casablanca, putting it together in fading light. I was pretty pleased with myself. It's a lovely little shelving unit on castors. I left it in the hallway for the rest of the Christmas evening and took it up at night and arranged my books in it. Took a little shuffling to get them all in and in order but they're in and it's just so cute.
So. That was all the stuff mum got me...I think. I'm pretty sure that's it. oh and a cute little alphabet stamp set too. And a new diary. And a pretty cool replica/cosplay deathnote.
And from Napoleon I got a white chocolate Toblerone that I've almost finished (he got mum a chocolate orange but it was dark chocolate, she hates that, so I had to eat that too. Not that I'm complaining, although I think my teeth and heart would.) Assassins Creed, which reminds me, must get round to finishing the second one. And a card with a lump sum of money. I already have an idea of what I'd like to invest it in but it's not in stock at any of the retailers nearby, well, what would you expect so soon after Christmas? If I don't get it then I can get something else or just keep it for the cost of living, simple as. He gave mum the same lump sum.
Yuki was begging for turkey most of the day. We gave her a squeak toy. She played with it for all of five minutes.
A few days later Napoleon came around again. He'd ordered internet security but it hadn't arrived before Christmas so he brought it round when it arrived. And on that day he happened to be going to get a washing machine with my uncle, so they both came round. It was kind of nice because mum hasn't really seen him since she briefly saw him when Napoleon was taking her for her eye operation, before that it was at the funeral. So mum was happy to see him. Even though all the arm chairs were clear, though the sofa wasn't, he did the same thing Napoleon does, he went straight for my desk chair. His reasoning being that it's higher and so easier to get out of.
I'd like to tell you about when we went to see the other half of my family and the fun we had but I'd better save that for another blog. This one's already too long.
So Bluebiird out.
