Halls of the Dark Muse

Happy Almost Halloween Dance (And What I Will be Reading for October)

Rate this Entry
I am eagerly awaiting October, of course, for the obvious reason, that October means Halloween! And yes in my mind Halloween is a month long holiday (ok perhaps more accurately as far as I am concerned, it is a year long holiday) You know for me Halloween is not a holiday, it is a lifestyle

But I can officially start celebrating it at the start of October.

So here is my selected reading for October or books that I deem in some way to be appropriate Halloween reading. Some books are traditional horror, some are just dark, disturbed, or stranger.

The Haunted House - Charles Dickens
Ghost Story - Peter Straub
The Ocean at the End of the Lane - Neil Gaiman
Oryx and Crake - Margaret Atwood
The Graveyard Book - Neil Gaiman
Tales of Men and Ghosts - Edith Wharton
The Godfather - Mario Puzo

Ghost Story is really good, as is Oryx and Crake. And I've heard good things about the Neil Gaiman book.

Happy Halloween, Dark Muse! Let the hauntings begin!

I usually really like Peter Straub, and Neil Gaiman is a faveorite of man. The Graveyard Book I have been wanting to read for a while.
