All the Reasons I Should Never Love You

Why must I love you
while you are so aloof,
so lost to yourself?

Why must you be so perfect
and yet so fatally flawed?

And why must those
flaws be so irresistible,
all the reasons that things
between us could go so horribly wrong
only makes me crave you even more.

I know you shun away
afraid of the disaster,
but all I want is to play Icarus,
and see just how close we can come
before we both tumble down.

Because if I must self-destruct
I rather it be while holding onto you,
clinging to life, I don't want to be safe,
I don't want security if it means living
without you.

I want to become a part of your madness,
I know you are too well intended,
you seek to protect me from yourself,
but I never been one to bruise easy
and I would risk breaking everything
for just one moment with you.

    I wish. We are both artists, and I asked him if he would like to come to San Fran with me where the de Young is having a special art exhibition show casing the Girl with the Pearl Earring painting among other Dutch works but he has not yet gave me his answer.

    Hehe yes, if only I can get him to agree, as frightening as the thought is, in some ways he is more of a recluse than I am. He has been in a bit of a funk, and personally I think it would do him good to get out of his apartment for a bit, the hard part is convincing him of that.

    Good poetry DM. "I want to become part of your madness" is something of the unexpected and I like surprises. It's intriguing. Weighing the scales, safe...madness...safe...madness...hmmm that's a toughie. I'm the type to pick "safe" but that's so boring

    My god I so love this poem. Line for line, word for word, I could have written this to the last girl I loved and who I still love and meant it most sincerely.

    So? Did you get an answer yet? I just think about little romantic stories like this and hope one story can have a happy ending. Maybe it will be yours.

    I don't think he is going to agree to come. He has managed to avoid answering.

    Well I was hoping he would come, but I understand, because we are both artist types, and both introverts who do not generally like to associate with other people I get where he is coming from right now. He is prone to bouts of depression and is going through a personal thing right now, and is in a place right now where he just does not want to leave his apartment for anything and is not prepared to deal with the real world.
