When life gets in the way

I am on a Easter break now and my son left to spend a part of the holiday with his dad yesterday, he'll be back on Sunday. I am gonna read as much as possible in these few days alone and work on my small essay for my 'animals in pictures and literature' course. I have been asked more than once about this course so I'm gonna give a small description of it.
It's about animal ethics a study getting more and more room in many departments in universities around the globe. It is very small here on the ice, actually so small that there is just one man getting the word out. But he teaches a class about it so hopefully more will arise. We read a lot of articles on animal protection, why not to eat meat and use animals and and more difficult stuff to read like abuse and use in a very negative way, to give an idea one article is called 'Heavy Petting' so you may guess what it's about. We watch movies and documentaries and we have seen a whole lot of artwork that is just horrifying. But it's very interesting to see how animals are treated. My first small essay was about 'Meat is Murder' the Smiths lyrics and now I am doing one about Ferdinand the bull, I have to use the cartoon not the story itself cause I need to write about a picture or a piece of art. My big essay is gonna be on Peta.
I really like this class and I can see how it has changed the way I look at nature films and pictures of animals. It's odd when you can 'feel' your mind changing.
I have made my choices for what classes to take next semester, Horror books are on the top of my list and I'm gonna take Spanish Literature and a course about feminist literature.
I am pretty sure I'll write my BA about Grendil, I just find it all so interesting and no one on the ice has written about him.
My birthday is closing in, fast. My son is so excited and wants me to have a party. My brother said he might just make it a surprise party. My boy didn't really know what that meant and just looked at me and said' yeah surprise! you have to have a surprise party for everyone.' I think I am safe as long as he doesn't realize what a surprise party is. I have nothing against growing older, nothing at all but I HATE parties and I don't get why people make such a fuss about this day.
I told my boy that I just want to have dinner with him and ice cream. Then he needs to go to bed cause school starts after the break the following day and I can just watch tv or something. Nothing special just me and my boy eating pizza or something tasty.
Hey a funny thing happened (talking about age) I had to buy a bottle of wine yesterday and had my almost 7 year old son with me. The lady checked my ID. I am almost 27 and I had a kid calling me mom with me and he is half my size. I was kinda offended but my brother told me to take it as a compliment, I might.
I have started a list of books I want to buy when I get to London in August (I know it's still months away). I even found a website that tells me about good bookstores but if anyone has a favorite in London or Brighton comment please cause books and sci-fi toys is the reason I am going!
Well I'm gonna get back to my coffee and listen to John Grants new album and maybe read an article or two. Grant over analyzes himself too so I like him a lot.
