My Debut

I am going to have a debut showing of my artwork in a local gallery. They are preparing for their Winter Art Exhibit featuring the work of local artists and there was an ad in the paper for a call for both artists who wanted to submit their work or volunteers who wanted to help during the show.
I have been wanting for a while now to try and do more with my art work in both wanting to show it and maybe sell it, but there are not a great many opportunities for such, and so I thought this would be a good opportunity.
Each artist is permitted to submit up to three works in any medium, and so I will be displaying two of my original works, and one photograph, as well you are able to sell your works in the gallery showing. There is also some sort of contest that is held as part of the show in which all original works are eligible for.
The show opens on Saturday the 19th, and today I had to submit my work to the gallery for the show, also all artists are required to do a 2 hour gallery sitting during the show. Which I am actually kind of looking forward to because I think it could be fun. My sitting is scheduled for Sunday the day after the gallery opening. The exhibit will go from January 19th to February 9th.
It has been an interesting experience preparing for it. Even though I do display my work publicly via the Internet, and have my own online gallery, there is something very different in the idea of having you work physically displayed in a more personal way. Not to mention feeling as if you will be directly compared to other artists.
Though I have to say once I had my works all framed I thought they looked pretty awesome. Picking out the frames for the work was also a pretty fun project.
