My Gala Night and the Day After

Saturday night was the opening for my art show in the gallery, and I have to say it was a fun experience, and quite exciting of course. Being that I have never done anything like this before, I had no idea what to expect really and I was rather surprised by what a good group of people there were there.
There was a lot of people, and while usually that does not bode well for me, being that I rarely attend social events and generally don't like being where there are a lot of people, in this case it was nice knowing there would be a good showing of people to view my artwork.
I have to admit I would try now and then to just hover around and act like I was looking at other works of art near my own work to see if I could overhear any ones comments about my work, but alas I did not catch anyone talking about it but did see a few people seeming to look upon it with interest.
Also It was awesome seeing how many other works of art where there, and some really good and interesting stuff. I did get to talk to the artist who created one of my personal favorite works and she seemed cool, she seemed like she would be a lot like me, and well her painting was very Poe like, depicting a raven with a skull. She then asked me about my work and I showed her, and she said she really liked my photograph. She also tole me there would be another show in May, which I am interested in participating in.
My work didn't win anything, but I was the young blood, the unknown in the circle, a lot of the other people there have been doing it for a while and knew everyone. But the guy who won 3rd place for work I think really liked my stuff, I saw him looking at it rather studiously a couple different times.
So it was cool and a very new and different experience, and than today I had to do a sitting in the gallery which I was looking forward to because I thought it could be fun.
Because it was a Sunday and the play off football game was one (and the 49ners are the local team where I live) it was pretty quiet, but I kind of liked that. When I first arrived the guys who sat before me were still there and I had a nice chat with one of them and he showed me his work and looked at mine, and he was interesting to talk to.
And than after they left I mostly just sat there and read since there was not really anything to do, which I was fine with.
Now to rewind a little bit there is this individual of who I met online, and he does live locally in my area, but when we first started talking about he was dealing with stuff in his own life and really wasn't looking to meet in person just wanted someone to talk to, a pen pall of sorts, which suited the recluse that I am just fine, and we have thus been engaged in regular very interesting conversations, we are both very intellectual and philosophical, so we have enjoyed these very in depth and mentally challenging conversations and he too is an artist.
So I told him about my show because I thought he would like to know and he thought it was great and wanted to see my work but felt shy at the thought of seeing me, so I told him he was welcome to drop in the gallery and look at my work at a time when I was not there, and I told him when I would be there so he could do whatever he felt best.
I had no idea if I would see him or if he would come to the gallery at all, well I am sitting in the gallery reading my book when someone happens to come in and my first very intelligent thought is "Wow he is cute." And there was a guest sign in sheet and I ask him to sign and then he heads off to the gallery and I was sitting there thinking, would it be weird and creepy if I took his email address from the sign in sheet and contacted him later? Out of curiosity I could not help myself but to look over and when I saw the email address I was like, Wait!!! I know that email, that is him!
I get up and walk back to the gallery and saw him standing there waiting and we greeted each other and than I took him over to see my work, and we just fell into such a natural and easy flow of conversation with each other, at first I thought it might be awkward, or I would not know what to say, but he totally just clicked with each other. We wandered around the gallery talking about art and whatever else came into mind.
Then finally he had to go, which sucked, but I cannot wait until I hear from him again.
