My Pagan Babies

Rate this Entry
Ok they are not really mine, and they are not really babies, but they are my nieces, who are 7 and 4 years old.

My sister is an Agnostic who is drawn to many aspects of Paganism, and so she tries to raise her children to be open to the fact that there are many different spiritual beliefs, and it is not a question of who is right and who is wrong, but simply a matter of what individual choose to believe in.

This time of year she teaches them about the original Pagan roots of the holiday of the Yule Tide, and about how it was a celebration of the Winter Solstice and she got them special gifts to give them on December 21st, the actual day of Winter Solstice.

The youngest, the four year old was at her last day of dance class and one of the other students said something about Christmas to her, and she said to them "We don't celebrate Christmas, we celebrate winter."

    That's a cute story.

Do they get presents and a tree? I kid, I was thinking of Sally or maybe Lucy in "A Charlie Brown Christmas."

Yes there is a tree and we do have gifts on the conventional Yule Tide day.
