How did it get so late so soon?

It's already a week into the new year! Life just goes on so fast, I feel like I just started school and I'm already half way through. I have been reading books for this semester during the holiday cause I have to read more than ever before now. usually it have been about 20 books but now it's closer to 30-35. So I have finished some to try and make it a bit less during the semester, five of these books are about 900 pages about Icelandic literature so I should sit down and read.

Anyways I got 4 books for Christmas and that is kind of a Christmas miracle cause most people give me something for the kitchen or something like that. Well we have 13 Santa's here on the ice and the last one always gives everyone a present, he got me 'Heroes and Villains' about comic books and movie heroes and villains (like the title implies). My dogs gave me 'A hero with a thousand faces' and I'm very happy about that, my brother and his girlfriend got me a book by Claude Levi-Strauss that I have wanted and my other brother got me a wonderful copy of 'Hamlet' in Klingon "taH pagh taHbe" witch translates into "To be or not to be".

I also got a Tardis cookie box, my home is starting to look like a sci-fi convention, no not really I just have about 10 items from different sci-fi but I love it.

Anyway, my son spent this weekend with his dad and I went to IKEA to get some stuff for his room, make it a bot more of a 6 year old room instead of a 3 year old. Can't wait to show him today.

My mom and stepdad go to the theater often with friends and lucky me one of them couldn't make it yesterday so she invited me and I saw Mice and Men, aahhh it was beautiful so so good, the guy who played Lenny is amazing and I am so happy I could see it cause they had to cut down the number of shows because he is going to the US to play in some movies. Witch reminds me 'Oblivion' a Tom Cruise movie coming out this year, even though I can't stand him the movie looks good a huge part of it was taken in Iceland so you get the scenery, and it's real no green screen. Also in the first 20 seconds of the trailer is a beautiful dog barking at Cruise that dog is my friend Vetur, it means Winter, my best friends dog I tried to make an IMDb page for him but that is difficult and I can't seem to figure it out... So go see it!!

Well life goes on as it should and I'm gonna go read Ovid.

I read The Hero with A Thousand Faces many years ago, or at least read a good a part of it. It shaped some of my future ideas. A very interesting work.

I hate Tom Cruise too. He such a snot, at least the characters he plays, and the bits of his personal life don't sound too appealing either.

I hate the way time flies by so fast. It feels like my life is on fast track to death. Maybe if we can build huge rocket motors and strap them to the earth aimed in the opposite direction of the earth's travel and simultaneously light them, perhaps we can slow the earth's revolution so that we can squeeze out a few more years of life.

It's good to see you on here, Helga. I've missed you're blog.

How long do you read each day? Just the idea of having to finish that many books puts me in a panic, but you seem to manage it quite well.

I used to like Tom Cruise. I love the movie "Legend." It's so odd, but it was about the time he jumped on Oprah's couch that his persona seemed to change, and it's not pleasant any more. It also seems like he chooses roles that are more action movie type roles and which don't have much depth. I think he is better than that, but it seems like he's simply determined to stay famous. How sad. I don't, however, spend much time thinking about it.

Check in once in a while, let us know how you are, how the boy is, how your reading is going.

That's cool about your friend's dog, btw!

Oh, I went and looked at the preview. Vetur is beautiful! And the movie looks pretty good, too. Actually, I really liked him in"Minority Report", which is one of my favorite movies, and another sci fi, also. Maybe it's a genre he's pretty good at.
