Day 11

So. Going to be quick with this one. We have shopping to do.
So today I got another dumpling snowman and Yuki got a red twisty bone.
Mum had a check up today at the eye hospital. It seems the original staff that treated her last year have moved on or just weren't there. She had a new nurse who kept asking her if she had drops in the left eye too. No. Just the right. And a new doctor who....doctor who.... A new doctor who really didn't seem to know what he was doing. She tells me that he went over her notes with her and said they weren't very good and started writing his own.
He clearly couldn't read dates because he asked why they'd taken the oil out. So she had to tell him the whole history. She had a detached retina in September and so on and so forth and eventually he got that it started last year and not this year. He went to consult with a colleague then came back and said it was all done. He forgot and then remembered to do an eye pressure test and during this the receptionist came in and told him that he was sending out letters wrong and had to show him how to do it.
So all in all not a very stellar visit. However, I can't really fault the guy. He's clearly new to the department and it's not like he's screwed anything up as far as we can tell. I'm sure he'll be fine once he's settled in.
So. That's it. No more checkups. I like to think of it as the eye no longer being under warranty. If it breaks again she'll have to start the process from the beginning.
In other news her cough is now a chesty cough and is being pretty persistent. While I stay up for an hour or so after bed reading Azumanga she's coughing away and in the hour or so after when I decide to try and sleep she's coughing away. It's at the point now where we both find it annoying.
In related news I'm finding the book just as fun as the anime although I kind of like and don't like the way they've voiced Osaka. I like the fact that they gave her a southern accent to reflect that she has a different accent to the rest of the cast but I don't like trying to read it because I know what her original voice sounds like and her Osaka accent is cuter than the American one I have to read. Besides that it's very fun.
I'm uncomfortable having such a big book because I'm desperate not to bend the spine, it has a cute picture of the cast on it. I finished volume 1 last night. I do like that it comes with bonus colour pages at the start of each volume but I hate that I have to go a third of the way through the book to find the translators notes. I've never bought a manga omnibus before, mainly because I like to have the books in their original format (well, as close as you can get after they've been put into volumes and translated to english) but mainly because the only kind I've seen so far are for long things like deathnote and bleach, you can only fit about the first 3 volumes in. Bleach goes into the hundreds. It's just easier to get the individual books.
However, Azumanga fits well into an omnibus because they're all short. It's kind of refreshing to read a four panel manga, you can't get lost. I think it'll be nice to associate reading Azumanga with Christmas. It's been a while since I stayed up in bed to read anything. I used to do it all the time but now I pretty much never do it...until now that is.
I'd better be off.
Bluebiird out.
Oh.. One more thing.
Only 2 weeks until Christmas?!everybody panic
