So. I got a star again and Yuki got another green twisty bone. If I do this next year I'll try to make a better choice of calendar.

In other news. We have mice again. Annoying little buggers. We finally set up the trap (google humane mouse trap) but so far no takers. It's a shame they're such a problem because they are adorable. They were living in the very back of one of our least used cupboards feasting on a box of Shreddies (honestly have no idea how that got there) and a bag of crisps (again. no idea) They must be pretty old to be back there. I'm surprised the last lot of mice didn't eat them. Then again those mice had a chocolate fixation.

So. They were in the cupboard but for some reason they've spread to the ceiling. I hear them scurrying and gnawing above my head. What the hell can they be doing up there? We have these mouse deterring things that are supposed to make an annoying sound that only the mice can hear. It seemed to work well. I wonder if they're broken now.

Mum naively hopes we'll catch the two trouble makers at once but that won't happen. We had two. She saw them together. However. It's been too long for it to just be two anymore. If you have one then maybe you're okay but once you get two you know you're in for it.

Besides. I've looked it up. Male mice avoid each other. Meaning if there were two they either have to be brothers from the same litter or, more likely, a breeding pair.

Lovely. A coughing mother and a mouse infestation for Christmas.

I didn't want to write a long blog but there's an event I want to write up already so I can stop trying to remember it.

In early-mid October we had the family gathering an my uncle's. Again his phone manner could do with improvement. There's not much to say about it really. I just wanted to get it on record. My cousin was still touring Australia with her boyfriend, my other cousin has been borrowing her clothes and hair dye while she's away, my other cousin didn't have much news and my other cousin told us tales from his cruise and showed a hell of a lot of pictures on his, quite old now, i pad.

I didn't see the pictures because I was on the other side of the room. I remember he went to Greece and Rome. I forget where else. He told us about various attractions and things. Also told us that the tours are divided by difficulty. Like ones that require long walks up steep hills for example and they were only in port for a day so they wanted to get around and see as much as possible. They took a strenuous tour and a bunch of old people also took the tour and kept holding them up and wanting to stop for tea so it was frustrating. The tours are divided by difficulty to avoid this problem.

Let's see. My second second cousin was either in Ibiza with friends or was going to be or had been. I forget which. My first second cousin was on the verge of death by tonsillitis. Neither of them were there. Their parents told us this.

He had a bad throat and fatigue and probably a fever too (it was a while ago so I can't remember the specifics) The key point is he felt super bad because he went to his GP. They supposedly gave him a check up and turned him away saying it was just a normal throat infection. Fluids, bed rest and all that and he'd be fine. He said it's not normal because he felt really bad. He doesn't like going to the doctors (none of us seem to like wasting a doctor's time unless we're really bad) but the fact that he went means he really felt bad. I think this happened a couple of times.

Later on (some night time) he came downstairs struggling to breathe and apparently his lips had turned blue and his face was swollen up. So they rushed him to hospital. And the verdict. Tonsillitis. Apparently because he couldn't breathe they kind of popped the tonsils and the swelling went right down so he could breathe again.

That's pretty scary. How could his doctor not pick up on that? He could have died.

Anything else?

Ah. Generally Rosie (my aunt's dog) ran around outside and drank from the pond but later in the evening when she was shut in with us she looked lethargic so I gave her a bowl with a little of my bottled water. She was eager to get her snout in there and drink but only a little. i left it on the floor for her but she never went back for a refill.

I thought it was kind of silly. A dog should always have fresh drinking water. Granted I wouldn't have thought of it if we didn't have Yui but it is common sense. My uncle only has a cat and I'm told that Rosie rarely drinks fresh water. Well. That's no excuse.
Also I kind of stopped my vegetable sandwiches after that day. Mainly because I got out of the habit of it I suppose. I'm trying to start it up again but Winter is a difficult time to eat cold food.

So. That's all. I plan to write up Halloween at some point.
Bluebiird out.
