Day 5

Another bell that looks like an acorn. I'm hoping things will change tomorrow. I didn't actually notice when I bought it, because I was looking at the pretty design, it says that the chocolates get bigger the nearer you get to Christmas. So that's an interesting twist. Hopefully it'll be a different design to report otherwise this whole thing is going to get pretty stale.
The dog got a stripy twisty bone just like before but this one was green. Now she's associating my coming downstairs with getting a treat so she'll be disappointed on boxing day. She'd be disappointed on Christmas day too but that's bound to be a hectic and confusing day for her so I doubt she'll notice. She has a heap of toys for Christmas too.
So. Got up oddly early today. I've been forcing mum into a better routine. It's having a positive effect on the both of us I think. I've made the extra squares for my blanket. I just need to put them together.
Yesterday I bought a good sized rubber and carved a merry Christmas stamp (By the way rubber is eraser. I read that page in Hetalia. I know the joke.) For my Christmas cards I get annoyed that I have to put a merry Christmas sticker on it. I'd like to do a design without one but I haven't been able to find a decent rubber stamp to stamp the inside. A Christmas card has to have a seasonal greeting somewhere. So, now they can.
Ah Blue. Why didn't you just put a merry Christmas sticker inside?
Because that'd be a waste. No one sees the inside when they're on display.
I plan to make lemon chicken this week. I have some nice vegetables too. Since I started having sandwiches with vegetables in (I must confess that it's gone down to just lettuce and meat or sandwich filling) I haven't been focussing on things for dinner.
To be honest I've gone off of ready meals. Once you really start to think about what's in them they're quite revolting. But, since I'm not focussing on two person meals so much mum is sorting her own dinner which consists of ready meals. She buys too many too. As she's still sick I'm refusing her those trays of crap. Well, most of them. Hence chicken and vegetables.
I've come up with some rules for being ill (with a cold, I'm not sure about any other kinds of ill yet).
When you feel a cold brewing (mainly a sore throat beginning);
1. Wrap up tightly in bed and try to sweat it out.
2. Ensure you're taking your vitamins.
3. Orange juice is always good.
If it persists.
1. Ensure you have a medicine that you can take (I'm picky about them) and keep track. Stay well medicated.
2. Ensure that you are kept warm at all times. A scarf around the throat is particularly important.
3. Fluid intake. Try to avoid fizzy and/or sugary drinks (everyone knows that)
4. Eat good stuff. No sweets. No fatty crap.
If you have a bad stomach
I'm told rice is good. I like it cold and a little watery, less chewing and a little more fluids. Although I do top it with a little too much salt.
These rules are simple enough to follow. Mum refuses to follow them properly. I have to bully her into taking care of herself. She may be older and think she knows better but I find these rules quite effective. I don't think she likes taking advice from her own offspring.
Bluebiird out.
