Memories of the 28th Century

The New Era

Rating: 2 votes, 4.50 average.
Since the old world ended on the twenty-first day of December, and the new world era has begun, a new calendar has also begun. It began just as the old Mayan Calendar ended. This new calendar will be named The New Calendar. The year will start with two intercalendral holidays that will not be part of any month: Winter Solstice and New Year’s Day. After that we will get to the common matter of the ten day weeks, three to a month.

For convenience, and so we won’t have to learn all new names for the days, we will retain the seven days that the old-fashioned calendar has, and to those we will add days named for Neptune, Pluto, and Jupiter, Neptday, Plutday, and Jupday.

We may want to rearrange the names of the days at some point, but that isn’t important. It will be important that there will be a three day weekend every week, but, at least for a while, there will be no holidays. The situation will be much more convenient, because 31% of the days will be weekends or intercalendral, while only 28% are such at present. It will also be easier to remember what day of the week falls on which date, because each day of a month will fall on the same day of the week every month.

Everyone will win, except for the Moon worshippers (well, someone had to lose), and the people who print calendars, because two will serve for every year – one for regular years and one for leap years.

I have already calculated the dates for many years to come, and I will post that when I figure out how to make a spreadsheet look right in here.

Today is Neptday, February 18, 1

I am eagerly awaiting, but I fear this will be yet another dissapointement in which the world fails to end.

I don't expect the world to end, but I do expect that an era in time will end. That is why it is a perfect time for a new calendar to be introduced. As I mentioned, I have aready calculated the dates; I just have to load them on here. I amy just convert to RTF and see what happens.

I think I liked your idea about Gas better, but it just may be me. Hey, at least people are reading your blog. Points for that!

Intestinal flora tend to grow as they will, even when attempts are made to keep certain ones out, so the idea of re-odorizing gas will remain a pipe-dream. Imagine the annoyance of having to kill off all of your flora everytime the locally preferred variety kills off the ones that are making you smell like roses. The you would have to ingest a collection of the correct flora and hope that they throve. It's a great idea whose time may never come.

On the other hand, the calendar would be useful and easy to use, and it would improve life for everyone from the first week.

People have been reading my blog for quite some time. One entry is in the top five.

Nice idea for the calendar, the discussion of the new ear is atleast inspiring to take up life differently even if nothing happens really on the 21st day of this month.

    @ Krishnas:
We can be very confident that nothing will change on the twenty-first, except for the calendar, butit will be, as you mentioned, a break from the old era, so people may feel a little less inclined to do the same old things. We will see.

You should be more contraversal. Have people argue about your writings, etc.

Well, the new era has begun. Have you noticed the difference?

    I thought not.
