Halls of the Dark Muse

My October Reading

Rate this Entry
I am not one for seasonal reading but when it comes to October I do like to embrace my dark roots and select books that are Halloween appropriate in some form. My selections are not necessarily always horror strictly speaking, but at least have some dark, or disturbing element to them.

So this is my October line up:

American Pyscho by Bret Easton Ellis

Handling the Undead by John Ajvide Lindqvist

Death with Interuptions by Jose Saramago

Hotel Transylvania by Chelsea Quinn Yarbro

The Sailor Who Fell From Grace With the Sea by Yukio Mishima

The Willows by Algernon Blackwood

King Lear by Shakespeare.

That's a brilliant idea, DM. I haven't read any of those but The Willows and it is superb. Prepare to be chilled.

Ooh, I read The Willows last year. It was weird actually and kind of cool. I also re-read King Lear last year. If you look back in my blogs I posted a link to a dramatization on the internet. You might want to watch it after you read it.
