Off to a Grand Start

Payday to most Amercians is almost a sacred holiday matched only by the excess of Black Friday. A worker puts in their time if not necessarily all their energy and ability and when the dawn rises on that looked for time for a short time the future seems bright.
So when our new owners inform us payday is now on Friday and no longer Thursday some small grumbles--mostly to do with extra trips to the credit union since the Long Suffering One gets HER pay every Thursday the mantra change is good is given some thought and discarded with bah humbug.
The first sign of trouble is an e-mail detailing the first pay for January will be a live check that 'should' arrive in the mail Friday the 6th. After that direct deposit will kick in and all will be rosy from that point on.
Being a lover of TV comercials where I carefully listen to what the commercials actually SAYS they will do or sell you versus what is IMPLIED; this is a fun memo to peruse especially with a check with THREE overtime days on it. Ahem. Kids commercials are a wealth of delight in this area. Some products are shown that when you strip away all the gloss you haven't a clue what it's really for.
Thus I keyed in on that little word 'should' in the memo and assumed my secret identity as Doubting Thomas--my second favorite Apostle after Peter.
It was no surprise at all the mail on Friday was lacking joy and pleasure and a chance at the latest issue of the Avengers this week.
The big surprise was upon arriving at work was that NO one got their check today. This really isn't the sort of message I would want to send your new people you just took over. Either (at its worse) arrogant disregard for your employers or gross imcompetence. Haven't decided yet which I believe but their lack of desire for input on how the changeover is going from calltakers and dispatchers is telling much less no apology from higher up except a quick e-mail from HR offering a quick loan for the weekend to really needy ones. I can wait. But poor Brandy has a babysitter tat likes getting paid. She took the offer.
So even if it arrives Saturday can't cash it until Monday. If it doesn't arrive Monday I'll be at work because I still like to eat once in while and have electricity and a phone open in case Logos calls but it won't be pretty.
Hopefully there's an NCIS marathon Saturday to kill the day while I continue to avoid dishes.
