day in a life

what to read in the months to come...

Rate this Entry
This time of year at a literature forum people think about book challenges and plan to read something they have wanted to read for a long time. I don't think I have the time to make a personal list but what I will be reading in the next 4 months is:

Candide ou l'optimisme by Voltaire
American Gods by Neil Gaiman
Gunnlaðarsaga by svava jakobsdóttir
The Last World by Christoph Ransmayr
Blóðhófnir by Gerður Kristný (poetry)
The Antelope wife by Louise Erdich
Weight by Jeanette Winterson
Hounded: the iron druid chronicles by Kevin Hearne
Gods without men by Hari Kunzru
Ilium by Dan Simmons

well these are the books I have to read this semester for two of my classes, don't know yet about the third one, I also have a few more books to read that are more about literature in general. Unfortunately I don't own any of them so I guess I have to buy them all.... yes!!! I love buying books and knowing I am gonna read them soon and they won't just be another book in my bookcase I haven't read.

Yesterday I decided to take a break from the Doctor cause I have been watching the first 4 seasons in about two weeks or just over that and now he is slipping into my dreams and I think that is a reminder to take it slow. I only have the finale from season for left and then it's 5 and 6! I am enjoying it though. I decided to change my living room completely, I made a little corner that I think looks like the 'better living room' for reading and things like that, I have my stereo and my record player there, I love my Vinyl records. I realized when I had finished changing everything that I have two chairs now in my reading corner, I have never put two chairs there, maybe it is some hope deep down that someone will be sitting there with me one day.

I had coffee with my wonderful sister in law yesterday morning and she is just always so sweet. she and my brother make the best couple, I don't think I have ever known two people that are so good together. I am hoping to meet my other brother today, he and his girlfriend are not perfect together and I don't know why he stays with her and now they are moving to Italy for 6 months! I just don't get it. life is so odd and I don't understand why he would want to spend it with someone who treats him so badly!

anyway I am gonna go and buy a few books for school now.

I've only heard of a couple of the books on your list, but I do know some of the writers. Gaiman is very popular, and American Gods is supposed to be a really good read so I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on that one. I read Candide a little while ago and loved it.

Is it the Doctor you're dreaming about or David Tennant

Can't blame you at all for the crush on the Doctor, he's my type too Though I would say clever and just a bit of a bad boy, so I've actually not had a preference of actors really

I'm only familiar with Candide on your list, and it's a ball of laughs. You should enjoy it. I've never known anyone who didn't.
