The World of Henry
I am surrounded by Henry's,
elusive shades
that insist themselves in my life
with penetrating force.
Captivated by their charm
I refuse to become entangled
within their charismatic webs
of lies and deceit,
rendered yet another sacrificial
offering to be sucked dry
for their insatiable needs
in which they are ever the martyr's.
Forcing myself to breathe free
when feeling myself drowning
under the weight of their eyes
which remain forever burning
as a flame that refuses to be snuffed.
Their shadows linger,
lurking around corners,
glimpsed in unexpected places,
floating through dreams.
No, the Henry's of the world
can never truly die,
and they take snatches of my soul
into their graves.
