The Curious Case of the Floral Scented Doggy

I took Yuki out for her evening walkies up down and around the neighbouring streets (I'm uncomfortable going to the poorly lit park at night) as usual this evening. The walk was progressing well. She'd stopped to sniff a few things, thought about peeing on the patch of dirt next to a house but changed her mind and pulled me a little looking for cats.
She stopped at one point at a damp patch in front of someone's house. I figured it was dog pee and that she'd sniff it, maybe try to lick it and we'd move on. Well. No. She liked it so much that she tried to roll in it. She got one side of her head and I pulled her away and continued as normal.
Some time later we were cooking sausages and Yuki wanted to watch. At one point someone was setting off fireworks nearby and they were quit loud so I bent down to reassure Yui that it was alright and I noticed a smell. A kind of floral smell. I asked mum about it, whether it was a new air freshener or whether we had anything floral smelling and she said no. When I stood up I couldn't smell it.
Later still, just after dinner I stroked the dog and smelt it again. I figured I was going crazy. Some time later I asked her for a hug and she was eager to do so and I could smell it again very strongly so I sniffed her head and called mum in to confirm my findings. The smell was coming from the dog, right where she rolled outside. We washed her head with wet tissues and it's almost gone now but we've no idea what it actually was. Because we weren't sure what it was I sealed the wet tissues we used in a sandwich bag in the hopes that some kind of lab test can be performed to determine any harmful chemicals should any problems arise. We'll monitor Yuki closely for any changes such as skin irritation and if we're concerned then we'll take her to the vet.
On a related note. Yuki's been a lot livelier these passed two days. Yesterday she spontaneously played with her little crab toy for a while and today. Today when I came down Yui was laying down in the hallway and because I wanted to show her some love I nudged her up to come into the living room with us. When she came in she ran to her bed and started playing with her fox toy so I teased her with it a bit and she got all excited, running around like crazy. Then she went for her old toy duck and we played with it until it tore quite badly so I swapped it for an identical (but new) toy duck and she played with that. She played with it for most of the day. That's unusual even before she started acting funny. She also went into the garden and started eating the grass in a way I've never seen but mum has, She dug up a little of the grass to get as close to the roots as possible. i took her back inside before she did too much damage though.
She seems much much happier and a lot like her old self again. I'm wondering if this was the end of her phantom pregnancy and it was perhaps later than we thought. Or maybe she had a bit of a bug and got over it. Either way I'm quite relieved. I'm so happy to see her happy again.
Hey. Was this easier to read?
Bluebiird out.
