Tathagata

I am a Tathagata,
If you have any questions for me,
I will answer them honestly.
When I open my eyes,
I see Amitabha Buddha,
Buddha of Infinite Light,
calmly smiling, at repose,
to each side of Him the Pure Land,
buddha-fields reaching in all directions without bounds.
When I hear someone's voice,
I hear the dharma being sung,
the prajna paramitam hrdaya
or praises of the Lotus-throned one.
When I speak, I am kind and truthful.
When I breathe, I am peaceful and blissful, and I smile.
When I meditate, I know perfect and infinite peace, as all opposites - life and death, pain and joy, love and sorrow, illusion and truth, time and eternity - join as one.
The slightest motion of my hand turns the wheel of dharma
bringing enlightenment and banishing illusion in worlds and worlds abounding.
When I am awake, I know all things are one.
When I am asleep, I do not leave my true nature behind.
Nothing lacking or extra, I am perfect and whole.
I have ridden dragons and seen many thousands of suns and moons and I know,
That this universe is illusion, and illusion is nothing.
I found this by realizing directly the nature of Mind,
and realized that Mind is the source
buddha-nature the root and the cause,
and knew this nature pervasively and completely as my own,
as I am nothing else -
and everything in the universe is one;
one heart, pure love, bliss, peace and consciousness, in every way boundless and eternal.
Nothing exists except infinite, infinite light.
What is the way to this abode?
As it is said, there are as many ways as there are individuals;
Recitation of the Buddha's name is one,
the Way of Zen is another.
Some follow the Way naturally, as if they know it by heart,
Others follow it by their thoughts,
and are bound to a path a thousand times longer.
Buddha Shakyamuni suggested to meditate an hour a day, saying that one who does so, and is sincere and devoted to realizing Self, is not far from it.
Ultimately, there is no cause of enlightenment,
as it is causeless and traceless.
There is no attaining of enlightenment,
for there is nothing lacking -
Only realization of the Self,
which occurs through trust in the Mind.
To know the highest enlightenment,
Begin in the beginning - the now -
and always return to the present,
and do no harm, and cultivate an illuminative wisdom,
and a pure heart and intelligent mind.
Follow your heart in the world,
take refuge in the Three Jewels,
this is the path of the Buddha-mind.
Study Seng Ts'an, study the patriarchs, study the Zen masters,
and the saint poets, Tilopa and Naropa and Milarepa,
study these to gain knowledge, but eventually
know the oneness of all existence.
In an ignorant mind,
a shackled prisoner, in misery and suffering,
Light the torchlight of knowledge -
The chains that cause so much misery are illusions,
and they vanish when replaced with illuminative wisdom.
The prisoner; the mind, is free when it is self-realized.
Where darkness has stood for thousands of years,
light will dissipate it in a moment.
Free of illusion, and clinging, and ego, the mind no longer suffers;
Replaced are doubt and darkness
With peace, deep-rooted bliss, and wisdom,
self-trust and knowledge of boundless buddha-nature,
when oneness is attained, fear and doubt is banished forever,
the dream of samsara is merely nothing,
and even time submits to its master.
