I wrote something about this on the forum, but it disappeared into the ether. So I'm putting it here for posterity. Or really just so I've got all my YouTube links in a nice, accessible place.

Horrible Histories is ace

Horrible Histories is a TV programme for children which, to be honest, is not really just for children. It's for adults too. Just because it's so funny. But hey, it's educational. Honest.

Imagine a programme which combines historical fact (if such things exist) with Monty Python-esque silliness and a touch of Blackadder's irony.

That's Horrible Histories.

    Horrible Histories are great. We used to get them for the kids. Such a refreshing change from those dusty history books - which I did like - but I would have benefited from the jokes and Graphic novel approach.

    Yes, they're great. Thanks to Horrible Histories I now know which of the king Georges was the mad one, the fat one and the bad one ( and the first one ). It's great fun, and educational too (and pretty hilarious too ).

    There are some awesome Horrible Histories books which I thoroughly enjoyed as a kid/teen- and I can thank them for being the reason I remember a lot of my history and mythology. It's so much easier to remember when it isn't dry and makes jokes about which English kings had the most blackheads.

    (the fact that Stephen Fry is involved in the t.v series doesn't hurt, either!)

    I prefer Rattus Rattus to Stephen Fry on the presenting front, but I know what you mean. Glad to see I'm not the only one who enjoys the series (and the books). Nice to see you around 1n50
