We're all fine

Don't worry. I'm alright. I'm keeping Zangetsu close at the moment for comfort. I don't know how well known this is in the rest of the world but there's been rioting in London this weekend. I try never to give too many details about my location but I will tell you this in case you didn't already suspect. I am from an area near to all this commotion. In fact it passed through here yesterday (or so I am told, I never noticed a thing myself). It seems a guy was shot dead by police in Tottenham on Thursday. There was a peaceful protest to get answers about his death from the police. For some reason rioting started over the weekend and opportunists joined in. There was destruction and blatant looting. The first we knew of it was on Sunday when mum met one of her dog walking buddies on Sunday morning. When she took Yuki out on Saturday night she heard a lot of sirens but that was all. On Sunday morning her friend told her about the rioting because she'd seen the news. Mum told me about this on our was to Tesco. I just thought, oh, okay then. And that's that. Eh well, it seems the rioting went further than Tottenham. First I knew of this was when one of mum's friends called her mobile (which she left charging at home so I answered). She was worried about mum getting home because the rioting was working it's way towards where she works. I called mum to relay this message and she told me about how someone in her office (who apparently also lives in our area) asked if she saw the damage. She said in Tottenham? no. And he said no, in our area. And that's the first we knew that the riots passed through or near to our area. She said I should be fine to take the dog out but I should keep my wits about me just in case. I see the benefit of expecting the worse but being too nervous can cause a situation rather than avoid it so you have to be careful not to get carried away. For comfort more than anything else I took Kazeshini and Kenpachi's sword out with me (one in each pocket). They're keychain replicas of swords in Bleach. My little collection started the first time I went to Tokyo Toys (mum took me for my birthday, instead of guessing what I wanted she took me to the shop and said get what you want, this was about a year or so ago now) and one of the things I got was a Zangetsu keychain. Since then mum's added to the collection without actually knowing what she's getting, not that I mind. She got me Zabimaru for graduation. Kazeshini and Kenpachi's sword were last Christmas. Like I said, she doesn't actually know what she's getting so all of the swords, except for Zangetsu are in their normal state where they pretty much look the same. Anyway.
I never watch the news. I rarely see the point. I'm watching now for information but the news is a pretty frightening thing too. With information so easily accessible people will surely panic. i watch a lot of anime and, although I'm not so keen on it, I have seen futuristic and slightly dystopian anime, (Don't forget I also had to study dystopian literature for a year) so I can't help wondering if this whole riot thing will make for big changes. I would list the possible futures I've predicted from this but I'm kind of bored by the idea already. Besides, my hand hurts, this desk isn't that good for long term typing.
I kind of want to take my sword (the life sized wooden replica) and beat some sense into everyone. Ah I wish I could but I'm not a hero and this is real life afterall.
You know, I find it odd that none of our relatives have called to make sure we're alright. I'd have thought they might have been at least a little concerned for us. Oh well, I guess it's not that big a deal afterall.
Ah well. Bluebiird out.
