Halls of the Dark Muse

My mother went to her sister's wedding today of which I did not attend because for one it is an accepted fact that I do not often appear at social events and for two there really was no expectation or reason for me to be there, to make a long story short I do not have a relationship with my aunt. And my mother only went mostly for the sake of her mother, and so my aunt could not than make a martyr of herself over my mom not showing up.

But when she got back she had some pretty amusing stories to tell, for one thing I have this cousin Brittany who when we were younger we used to be pretty close. For one thing we saw each other fairly often because my aunt (the one who was getting married) used to baby sit her and she had this big pool in her backyard and my mom would go over to visit and bring me to swim and I would hang out with my cousin, but than things changed and my mom stopped spending time with my aunt (part of a whole nother story) and so me and my cousin started seeing less of each other and we got older and she started high school (I am older than her) so we did not really have anything in common any more.

Well apparently she has now moved to Reno and become involved with some Pentecostal group that some cousins of hers belong to which my mother said to her father when he was telling her the story "I am happier having a daughter involved with the Pagans and the Wiccans"

Than this other cousin of mine Dominick, who is my other aunts son, was sort of the reverse situation. When we were both younger he used to annoy me and I hated having to hang out with him when they were down visiting, and I was a bit mean to him at times because again he was younger than me and there was more of an age difference between us than with Brittany, so he was just this little kid I got stuck with having to amuse. But than as he got older we became closer and I treated him sort of like a little brother in which I no doubt annoyed him a great deal but he put up with it.

He recently "finished" high school I guess you would say as he did not actually graduate since he failed his exit exams and he got mixed up in smoking pot, and for a while he was kicked out of the house but than his mother let him move back in, and though he does have his problems he is not all around such a bad guy as well though I like my aunt, truth be told some of his issues is directly related to how he was raised.

Now it seems as though he is working on his very own Marijuana Farm. My aunt was telling my mom this story about how him and a couple of his friends decided they wanted to try out farming and they became involved with this guy who has this plot of land out in the middle of nowhere and there is this shack there where they sometimes stay. And when his mother asked him what the eventual goal was with this produce, if it was just for the sustainability of the person who owns the land or what the ultimate plan was, his response was "Oh..we don't really know"

So there we have it, one of my cousins is part of some religious cult and my other cousin is working on a pot farm.
