To George Gordon Byron

Rate this Entry
If you are still alive
Alone, burdened with debts
Then come here my friend
Away from your Great Britain
Away from love affairs and women
(You had been wasting too much time on these)
Come over to the East
(The east that is much farther than Greece
And the east that Alexander dreamed of but failed to conquer
And the east that made Tamer turning over in his grave
I am willing to be your sacred Augusta
(Pure, chaste and undefiled, according to the Eastern custom)
And to be your soul sanctuary
(How I long for this great role indeed)
Here everything is well-matched to you
Here there is the highest mountain in the world
And the most mysterious plateau
And the most poetic nation and
The people honest and kind
Despite of being away
From your cradle of genius
You will return to the real town of eternity

Yuka, I always enjoy your poetry, but I detest the character of Lord Byron. How very romantic your poem is.

Well, given he died almost 200 years ago, I don't think he can take you up on your offer, enticing as it sounds.

Just a grammatical comment. I think you need an "is" in the line, "The east that much farther than Greece." - "The east that is much farther than Greece." If you left it out intentionally I don't see the point and it actually flows better to my ear with it in.

    I like the poem Yuka.

I love this! beautiful poem. Although I think taking on the "Byronic hero" type never ends well

I think Paper may have a good point there.

Thank you Jersea, for your enjoy . it encourages me a lot

Virgil, Well, I did let the 'it' out intentionally, , and I myself thought it would be better, but, since with it in flows better to your ear, I will let it in. Really thank you, it helps great

Well, Paper, like Jersea said, you really had a good point . thanks for your love
