Some of you may recall the post I did a while back about my cat's eye suddenly changing color and making me feel like I was dillsusional, but just in case here is a quick recap, along with an update on the situation:
About a couple months ago I went out in the garage to see my cat and noticed that his left eye had suddenly changed color. His eyes have always been a green-yellow color, but all of the sudden his left eye now looked more reddish brown. I went to take a closer look at the eye to see if anything was wrong with it, and there was no signs of irritation, infection, the eye was not runny and did not have any kind of discharge. It looked like a normal, healthy eye, it was just suddenly a different color, which I thought was quite strange. I tried doing some research online to see if I could find any information about this, but I could not really find anything which resembled what I experienced. I found a few things talking about diseases and infection of the eye which could cause the eye to change color but in looking at the photos it was nothing at all like what I noticed in my cats eye, because in the photos you could clearly tell the eye was infected and irritated and the whole eye was red, not just the iris. I did find one web site in which a woman who alleged to be a vet said that it is not uncommon sometimes for cats eye color to actually change as they get older, so I thought maybe that is all it was.
Well the next morning I went to see my cat and checked on his eye and it was back to looking its normal color again. Though I thought that there was something a bit strange about the eye, like it was less clear than the other one, but it really was very hard to tell and not very distinct to the point that I was never truly sure if in fact I was just seeing things or not. I was considering about if I should call the vet or not, when the day after that I went to check on his eye and it looked completely normal with no sign at all of anything being wrong. So I began to think if it were possible the eye change was just a result of a reflection or something because it was at night and dark in the garage, so maybe it was just the way the light caught it or something.
Since than there has been no further indication of anything wrong, and I haven't noticed again the cat's eye changing color and everything seemed to be completely normal, but now it looks like it is starting to change color again, and once more his left eye is showing signs of having a more reddish brown pigmentation to it without there being any signs of anything else being wrong. The cat is healthy, and acting normally does not seem to be in any discomfort, or does not show any signs of being sick, nor does he seem to be having any problems with his eye or vision. Everything seems fine, just his eye is beginning to change color.
