Happiness Makes Up in Height for What it Lacks in Length

I’ve got an addiction for fortune cookies. Tesco stockpiled boxes of them for Chinese New Year so I’ve been getting a box or so since then. They’re just so tasty and I love the fortunes, I’ve got a collection of them now. One of my favourites is “Excellence is doing ordinary things extraordinarily well”. I just got a pretty fun one that goes “Happiness makes up in height for what it lacks in length” I like that one, I kind of get it then forget why so I don’t until I remember again. So, why not blog and why now? Update. I haven’t said any more about the dog because I was hoping for a different outcome. Last week mum’s friend took a weeks holiday and the former owner of Saskia (3 year old Siberian husky) was helping to look after that person’s dog (Saskia’s sister) and when that friend got back we’d be able to sort things out (get information and the like. I made a list of things we need to do if the dog is definitely ours now). We…well, I was still holding out a little hope that Saskia’s owner would change her mind and want the dog back. Well, no such luck. The discussion was had today and her pervious owner can’t take her back. She doesn’t have the time since…well, I won’t say, all I will say is that the other adult in the household is no longer there and will never EVER return. She’s said that if we don’t keep the dog then she’ll probably have to sell her (since no one else will just take her). So, we’re keeping the dog. I’m pretty bummed about it. Keeping the dog was only the second best option out of those available. It’s no secret. I don’t like dogs. I don’t hate them. I just don’t like them as pets. I prefer cats. They’re smarter and require much less care.
So, list of things;
- Buy some new trousers (the ones I wear to walk the dog are wearing out and I don’t want to get my jeans all muddy)
- Get the dog micro chipped (we got her a harness since she slipped her collar, she doesn’t wear a collar now)
- Get dog spayed (We’ve never had a ***** and certainly never an un-fixed one.(they’ll have to shave her to spay her though won’t they? A neighbour’s cat got spayed years ago she was shaved. I like her fur, especially the side fur, it’s my second favourite part of the dog’s fur (after that lovely soft head of course)))
- Get dog registered with vet
- Tidy house
- Tidy garden (it’s full of thorns, she could hurt herself)
- Patch up holes in garden so she can run free
- Maybe some obedience classes
- Better shoes for walking
- Get dog used to me not being here all day so I can try and get a job without worrying about the dog getting lonely
- Pet insurance? (never had a pedigree, they usually come with problems)
- Get job since dog is expense we can’t really afford
- Maybe think of a new name, I don’t really like Saskia for a dog, not sure why. I usually call her Ki for short (kind of funny really, I call the dog Ki-chan and I call my baby cousin Chi-chan and interestingly Ki seems to be how Chi is pronounced in Japanese so it'll be fun when they meet at Christmas.)
That’s all I can remember for now.
So, anyway, we’ve got a dog now.
