My Snake Had Me Thinking I Was Delusional

About a week ago I noticed that Loki was getting ready to shed. When a snake is getting ready to shed their skin will become a very dull and drab color, and their eyes turn this opaque blue colors. With my King snake what would happen is that the snake would enter into this staging of getting ready to shed and stay that way for about a week and than shed its skin and go back to looking normal. It will take on a brighter color and again and its eyes will clear up.
I have been waiting for Loki to shed so I could get a mouse for him, since snakes do not eat while they are going through the shedding process. When today suddenly I noticed that his skin no longer looked as dull as it had been and when I checked him his eyes had also cleared and were no longer cloudy blue. Yet I could not find any sign of the actual snake skin anywhere inside of its cage. So I was totally freaking out because it did not make sense. I did not think I could have imagined the whole thing. I was positive that I saw the snake getting ready to shed, but now it doesn't look like it and I was pretty sure that snakes cannot just stop the shedding process. I could not figure out what the heck was happening but it did not seem possible.
I know that some types of lizards will eat their own skin after they shed and I began to wonder if perhaps there are some snakes which do that too so I decided to do some research online to see if I could figure out what was going on, when lo and behold, apparently this is all part of the normal shedding process for the corn snake.
I found several different sources online which said that when corn snakes are getting ready to shed, first they will get the dull look, and their eyes become cloudy, and they will stay like that for about 5-6 days, but than they will suddenly clear up again and give the appearance of having already shed, and 2-3 days after that is when they will actually shed.
So my snake should be shedding within a couple of days now and so hopefully he does so, so I won't think I am completely crazy.
