Halls of the Dark Muse

Oh Cruel Fates

Once upon a time just by chance I happened to pick up a book called Blood Roses by Chelsea Quinn Yarbro and when I first picked up the book I had no idea it was part of a series, there was nothing on the book which obviously stated that it was a book in a series, and I just thought it sounded interesting, and it was in a used book sale which I found.

It was later that I discovered that it was book 11 in a series, in addition I found that the series is about vampires of which I did not previously know, I just thought it was a book about St. German, but apparently the books take a vampiric angle.

Well come to find out the books are really hard to find, whenever I go to a store that sells used/old books I always look for them and have never been able to find any of her books, at least none that are a part of that series again.

So I received some money over the holiday's and I used a portion of it to buy a gift card for B&N to order some new books because often you can find books in at their online store which you cannot find in the actual bookstore. I looked up the first book in the Yarbor series which is called Hotel Transylvania, and the store itself did not have any copies available but they have the option of letting you buy used additions from other book sellers through them and I found a used copy of the book for like really cheap and I ordered it.

And I just got an e-mail tonight telling me that they canceled my order for the book because apparently it has already been sold and they just did not have the information updated. I was so frustrated about that because I was so excited about having found the book and there were some other used copies available but those ones were too expensive for me to be able to order with the money I have left on my card.

Now I have to wait for another opportunity to try and get a copy of the book, though in the meantime I have found another book that I have been wanting that I have had trouble finding in stores that I will be able to afford as soon as my refund for the canceled order goes through, supposing that the book is still available when I go to order it.

I've always had great luck with Amazon.

Since the books are so impossible to find anywhere else I decided I would have to break down and buy it from amazon, because they had a copy for it for 2 bucks. I usually try to avoid charging books to my checking account, but this was a special case and with shipping and handling and everything the total cost was only 5.99.

I love getting books for next to nothing at amazon. I did almost all of my christmas shopping there this year.

DM, sorry about the book chase. I went through that recently when I was looking for an old Italian book. When I finally found it, I was very excited and the book was awesome!! Despite the frustration, when you find the book, it'll be so much better since you had to wait.

Yes hopefully when I go to read the book I will not be dissapointed becasue of the hype built up in how long it took to get it and the difficulty in finding it.
