The Best Cake Ever

I have never really been much of a cake person, everyone always think I am so weird because I don't really care for cake all that much, and most people usually love cake and get excited about it, and I while I don't hate it, I could more oft than not do without it. I also am not really into pies all that much either. And one of the problems of which I have with both is the fact that I really don't like frosting which is another thing that sounds strange. On the occasions when I do happen to be somewhere in which cake is being served I will usually have at least one slice, but I will push most all of the frosting off with my fork and just eat the plain cake.
I also don't really care for fillings, creams, jelly's, custards, cannot stand cream cheese, etc. so pretty much everything that goes into the pie itself or the cake, I don't like.
When I was a kid for my birthday, typically the only kind of cake I would want was angel food cake, which is a very plain, basic kind of cake, also a big fan of ice cream cake, which really isn't an actual cake at all, and I really like pound cakes, which are almost more like breads than actual cake.
When it comes to a traditional type of party/desert cake if I must have one it would be a chocolate cake with nothing on top of it or inside of it.
So what is the point of all this? Well for the Holidays when we had are big get together with family on the Eve of Yule my uncle brought this cake which he made himself (and he is a really good cook, his burritos that he always makes for the holiday are famous and really the only thing anyone cares about eating) called "Apple Swirl Cake" and even though at first I was like eh its a cake, I don't really do cake, I figured I might as well try a piece of it, and it was the best cake ever.
I absolutely loved this cake, though probably one of the reasons why I liked it so much is because it was not like a typical kind of cake. It did not have any sort of frosting or anything in it, and it almost tasted more like a pastry. One the very top of it there was a bit of cinnamon with walnuts, kind of like the sort of thing you would get on a pastry, and though I am not a huge fan of walnuts, they were easy to pick around.
