Narrowly Avioded Tragedy

As many of you already know, I do not drive, and thus I only have a stranded Id card, and because I do not go out, don't really drink or do anything all that exciting, I hardly every actually use my ID card for anything so it has been expired now for a couple of years, because I never wanted to go through the hassle of going to DMV to renew it because it never seemed necessary so I always figured that I would eventually sometime get around to doing it.

Well now I am making plans to go down to L.A. for Halloween so I needed to get my new ID card so I could fly.

So I went in this morning, my dad took me to the DMV office, and the lady at the information desk up front told me it would be 10$ when she handed me my ticket, and I had 20 bucks in my wallet, so I go and wait, and they call up my number finally and I go up there give the guy my application, get me thumb print taken and than he tells me it is 26$.

At first I think I can just charge it, but than I remember I cannot do that because my debut card is expired too, so I have to tell him that I don't have enough money, and if I could just go get the rest from my dad who was with me, and he says ok. Well I go out, but he had to go on an errand and had already left.

Now I am stuck there and I don't want to have wasted the morning, plus I cannot wake much longer to get my ID if I want it in time to fly, so I am thinking of what the heck I am going to do, and start counting out the loose change in my wallet and come up with four dollars of change, so I am still short by 2$.

Me being one of the most anti-social people who does not like talking to others, and is terrible about approaching other people and generally never actually does so, having no desire or reason to, am forced with having to try and bum a couple extra dollars off someone else at the DMV.

I look around trying to find someone who appears approachable and as if they might be willing to give me the money, and end up going up to this old lady who was standing in land, but she said that she only had a checkbook and didn't have any money, but thankfully there were a couple of ladies standing in front of her who had over heard, and decided to be generous, so I will able to scrounge together all the money I needed and I was able to finally to be go through and finish the process to get my card.

Ooh, I could never bum money off people. My body - every fiber in it - would resist. I would have walked back home. But hey, you got it done. Why was it such a tragedy if you had to go back the next day?

Well becasue it would be incovniant for the person who has to give me a ride, and it would be a complete waste of my morning pluse another day of having to do something I don't feel like doing. I just wanted to get it over with.

The word tragedy was ment to be used in a semi-comical way here.

Genreally I should not be taken too litteally.

A good personal anecdote amusingly expressed.

My goodness, what a hassle it is to get an
ID card! It goes against my privacy-loving grain to be expected to carry identification papers with me everywhere I go.

I certainly don't like the red tape one has to unravel in order to obtain the document. A few years someone near and
(occasionally) dear to me noticed that the ID card had expired. This person was required to submit SIX other forms of ID in order to get a new non-driver ID card. The old ID card wasn't acceptable, even though, ironically enough, the new ID re-used the original photo.

So I do have some idea of the frustrating ordeal you went through. But still, I hope your H'ween trip is lots of fun!

Wow that seems pretty extreme, to get my card, I just have to fill out an application and than they took a new photo of me there.

I hate the DMV too. Isn't it just the worst dealing with a web of complicated details. Stuff like this can happen to me when I have to go to the DMV. I recently had to renew my driver's license, because it expired. They only accept checks and cash, but not debt cards st this DMV. Luckily, I had a check book with me.
