A Letter to A Distant Lover
I wanted to write you poetry
but I was devoid of words
to express all that I feel.
Living on this threshold,
between pleasure and pain
which you instill.
I wish I could erect
a glass box for you to steal
a view into my heart,
but I know the story
of Pandora.
How loving you
can be terrifying
and yet beautiful.
To express
the complicated feelings,
without leaving you devoid
in thinking that my devotion
is slackened.
Suspended upon a horizon
where the sun sets upon you
when it rises over me,
but still we share the same moon.
I straddle the precarious
point or fear that I leave you
feeling captured in the tower
where I would forever wait,
And elation that every thought
of you inspire, but I suffer
through those silences,
where faith is all I have to hold
on to, and you become like
just a memory.
