I see they have not kicked me off yet

Yes, Litnet, I've been away for a while. I miss it quite a lot, even though I typically don't add much to the conversation. I am off today, and in town for more than a few minutes and I kind of need to vent- here goes.
My horse, Pinto, was lame for three weeks. he threw a shoe and got stone bruised, and last week was the first week I'd been able to ride him. He is doing much better now that the neighbor has started baling his first cutting, and Pinto is able to keep weight on better. However, despite the fact he is appendix (quarter-thoroughbred mix) and bred to run, my head wrangler seems to think the best thing for him is to do walking/trotting rides on him. Pinto wants to run- he rares up at every open spot on the trail and has let me know he is not happy with his job. I did have the fortune of pushing cows on him last Sunday and gave him a break from the dull atmosphere of the meadow, but it was a short few hours. my backup horse, Frank, decided to be an idiot after he threw a shoe and pitched a fit when Townsend was trying to put it back on. Townsend had to lay him down to teach him a lesson, and Frank fought hard enough to injure himself to where he won't be usable for the rest of the summer. I'm not too heartbroken, because he is pretty stupid. Every vaccination is a rodeo with him, and he never learns that if he isn't stupid about it, he doesn't get the **** beat out of him. he walks too slow, he spooks at absolutely nothing, and he is generally unresponsive to any kind of direction.
My boss seems to be doing her damndest to break her firing record this summer. she fired one guy the first week, and she fired the ranch secretary and head chef within a week of each other, both who needed to go but were good friends of mine. It's been hard not having them there.
the truck I bought in April is just now getting to be fixed. I've alternated driving the new one and the old one, able to band-aid one up when the other needs to be fixed. I have a wedding in South Dakota to go to next weekend, and I am praying my truck is done by the time I have to leave.
the money has been good, the guests have been great for the most part, but there have been so many ups and downs it's not even funny any more.
The summer has flown by much faster than I really expected, but I guess it is all for the best. Usually at this time in the year, I am getting sick of my job and ready to leave. I am still fresh, along with everyone I work with.
Today, our first staff member finished his contract (of course, he is family and allowed to leave a month ahead of schedule) but he packed up and left for school this morning. He was a hard worker and we will all miss him.
That's all for now, Litnet. I'll have oodles of stories to tell when I have more than a few hours and the patience to write them down well.
Hope everyone is doing well!
