Halls of the Dark Muse

I am not a huge fan of the use of aliens within movies and TV shows (with the exception of the Alien movies, which are totally cool and awesome) because for one thing I really am not that into the whole alien thing, and for another thing because it is becoming quite unoriginal, cliche and predictable.

It particularly bothers more so in TV than in the movies, I just wish that people would try to come up with some more original and new ideas, rather than just falling back upon that easy out or wanting to turn anything unknown or mysterious into aliens.

So since Lost is no longer on air (which refreshingly had nothing at all to do with aliens) I am in need of a new engaging, thought provoking show, which will get watching speculating upon their own theories, and try and find their own clues and be kept on their edge of their seats guessing to see what would happen next.

NBC came out with a new show The Event, of which they tried to advertise to the Lost audience, hoping that they could pick up others like me, looking for the next Lost (as if there ever could be another Lost) and it looked interesting to I decided to check it out.

Well after the very first episode one of the first thoughts which popped into my head was "Please don't let it be aliens" and now having just watched the 2nd episode, it looks like that it is indeed going to be aliens.

Though in spite of my disappointment in the lack of inventiveness in the show, there are still some aspects that look interesting, and I like one of the main characters, and it is not bad. So for the time being I will give it a chance and still continue to watch it.
