Yes I'm Alive--You Should Have Missed me Sooner

Rate this Entry
Blogging has been a bit slow these days. My life has been in a rut for a very long time which is my preferred state of existance but every now and again there are things that delight the heart and perk up the spirits.

Virgil and Pussinboots quest for their son and the happy conclusion and the begining of their new life together.

Andave Ya growing weekly as a sophmore at Patrick Henry and yet STILL delighted when I call her or vice versa.

My own son Daniel about to embark on his new career path as a 2nd Lieutenant in the U. S. Army and entering into marriage with his life partner Heather.

Getting out of Ohio for the first time in years in October to go to said wedding in Portland Oregon. I don't DARE do this but best friend Steve already told me about a book store there he swears I'll adore. I'm pretty hard to impress unless they have rows and rows of books from the thirties let alone Dime Detective pulps. Cheap Shadows are a thing of the past and they were pricey even back 30 years ago in my prime collecting period. Besides money will be very tight but God provides.

And speaking of collecting picked up three more Avengers bringing it down to 93 to go out of 503.

Have a new boss now-Tami replacing Josh as Dispatch supervisor. Josh will be concentrating on other areas of the Call Center. I have been very careful never to burn bridges with her. The only real change for me will be that I can win an argument with Josh every now and then. Never with Tami. But I have learned to coexist with her. This should go well.

A third dispatcher was finally approved for second shift. Calltaker Travis is onboard now. The immediate impact for me was I actually had a weekend off for the first time this year. Both days. I had a Saturday off about a month ago and spent the day in a fog waiting for Sunday-lol.

The idiot nephew totally went off the deep end earlier this year and I'm pretty much done with him. He practiced a scorched earth mentality on his family and went way way over the line. His offenses are foul enough to where for once I have no desire to even hint at them. Such a wasted life. My sister deserved better.

Speaking of which--almost lost her about a week ago and still not quite out the woods yet. Blood clots on the lungs AFTER a bout with ecoli. Was actually concerned for a change. The good do seem to die young. There is a reason for that. God desires their company and gives the wicked MUCH time to repent as a testimony to His mercy and longsuffering.

Which seques nicely into MY Longsuffering spouse. Doing very well at her work and they seem to like her there. Her doctor maintains four offices in the area and he rotates his rounds ti where Ruth does her work at whichever office is on the schedule that day. She is coming alive in her own right.

Reading Matthew Henry but it is very slow going this time. I desire to read his commentary on the Bible when I am in a mood to PAY attention to what he says not just read to read. Hopefully I might be a better person for it.

Now let's see--how to work a Logos reference in here. L is for the length of time between contact. O is for the occasional recognition I receive. G is for when will she Get on a phone and call. O is for the first words she'll probably here as I faint. S is for the superb moderator and encourager she is.

If that doesn't get a reply it's back to Snap Jaws stories.

    You used an interesting tense...
"going to Portland Oregon...", does that mean that you are actually going to go there, en carne? [Made up that word]
It's a great city as I recall, being divided logically into four quarters, with the compass points being used in the addresses. You always know, roughly where you're at. Multnomah River Valley, or something like that, there are 500 foot waterfalls all over the place in the Columbia River Gorge area. Get out into the country, I guarantee you'll come home with a sore neck, disbelieving the mountain peaks.
Also an easy trek out to Tillamook and the many small Pacific coastal villages. It's funny how unpopulated it seemed to me back when I visited Intel during the period in which they were building the 486 processor (that's a while back I guess).
Intel had a fabulous facility in Aloha -- the only class 100 clean room with a window to the outside! Back in those days that was pretty cool.

There IS an amazing bookstore in Portland! I've even bought a first edition (1907) Playboy of the Western World by J.M.Synge from there. Mono told me about it. Its called Powells. Largest independant used and new bookstore in the world or something like that.

Thank you P and V for your kind comments in return. Captain Pike will send oyu a note probably Saturday when I'm of the day--your message was very welcome. Thanks. Juniper--our contacts have always been pleasant. Niamh--talked to the future daughter-in-law earlier tonight on FB and she LOVES Powells. Too bad no time to see it unless they are open on a Sunday. I can see the LongSuffering Wife quietly being annoyed.
