A Lonely Traveller

A Cicada’s Calling

Rate this Entry

You have been calling
since Adam and Eve were in the Garden of Eden,
calling forth an eternal memory for all mankind
throughout history.

You're calling again now,
calling up a field of wildflowers and a forest of green trees
under a sky of floating white cloud
for a lonely traveler in a fool's paradise.

I don't care for this one quite as much as the others. It just seems that everyone writes a poem about cicadas. But I do like your closing line very much, the contrast of Eden at the geginning of the poem with "fool's paradise" at the end is enlightening.

You're welcome. I think you've got talent. May I ask how old you are?

Thanks, for the most encouraging words.

I think I'm about your age, for I seem to have seen your birthdate in your profile or somewhere!
