This is a poem about the Viennese Waltz, a dance which was traditionally a dance for millitary men, becasue when they were in thier full regallia with thier swords at thier hip and everything, they really could not move around a lot upon the dance floor.
Waltz
Eyes of steal conceal
a tenderness that was locked away
inside, left behind on the blood soaked
battlefield.
Stolen glances of a secret romance,
the General's daughter draped
in blue, the color of a sky that has seen
no corruption.
With eyes fresh knowing nothing
of death and a smile that can
redeem the sins of man.
She glides as if floating
upon the very air, lifting an officers
despair, the man inside walled up behind
medals of honor that hardened is heart
leaving scars that are beyond sight.
So they meet upon the floor
in a dance of restrained passion,
she an angel so free of the world
and he burdened with memories
of a living hell.
