Halls of the Dark Muse

The Darkness Will Recede

Rate this Entry
As some of you may already know, particularly those who have participated in the two contests I am currently responsible for the Picture Poetry contest, and the Form poetry contest, I am going to be heading off on vacation.

I will be leaving as of tomorrow and will be gone through the first week of August, and so for those of you who have not yet posted in entry in either of those contests, they will remain open while I am gone, so you still have a week to come up with something. I will be judging them upon my return.

In addition, to those who have an interest in reading and discussing the Heart of Darkness, I will be taking my copy along with me to read while I am gone, and look forward to posting my thoughts and comments when I get back. In the meantime you can check out the discussion thread for the book here:

And start discussing at anytime.

My Still To Do List

Make Brownies to take on trip

(It is a family vacation and my mom always bakes different treats to take, but for some mystical reason, that has no explanation, whenever she tries to make brownies they come out hard as bricks or like rubber, so I am in charge of the brownies)

Pack

Charge my ipod

Get the rabbit and cat food ready for the person who will be feeding them while I am gone.

Finish reading Walden (on the last chapter)

and I think that might be all that I still have left to do before leaving.

Books I am brining with me

Heart of Darkness
Shanghai Girls
Lancelot
Of Human Bondage
The Brothers Karamazov
Gatherer of Clouds.

Books I am hoping to buy while gone (there are a few different bookstores around the area I am going)

Far From the Madding Crowd

(it is going to be discussed for my Victorian group at Goodreads, and I was on the fence about whether or not I really wanted to read it so since I could never definitely make up my mind I decided to let fate decide. If I can find a copy while on vacation than I real read it for the group, but if I don't find a copy while gone, than I won't read it.)

The Sea The Sea

(for the Buddies Read discussion taking place here on Lit net right now)

Nine Stories by J.D. Salinger

(I am usually not in the habit of keeping books after I read them because I don't even have room for the books I haven't read yet, but I love J.D. and it was shortly after I read this collection that he died and then I felt guilty for giving up my copy so I want to try and find another copy of it, plus it looks like "A Perfect Day for Bannafish" might be discussed here" though I almost know the story by heart I would love to read it again)

Ok, I think that covers all my Vacation news.
