How not to find a partner

Rate this Entry
I just had the strangest and most amusing e-mail and I am not sure just what the deal was. If in fact it was some sort of scam attempt to try and draw in lonely and desperate people, or if it was in fact legitimate and they were just lonely and desperate, or if they are just crazy.

But I had this e-mail from this guy, whom is a complete strange to me as far as I know. His e-mail address and name did not ring any bells and did not appear to be anyone I knew from any forums.

Apparently he had this dream that he was going to find the love of his life online, so I guess he decided the best way to go about it was by randomly e-mailing people.

If that was not strange enough, in his little blurb about himself in the e-mail, he introduces himself as a 50 year old God fearing Christian.

Now there is nothing wrong with those two things in of themselves, but considering me personally, you could not come up with a worse possible romantic match.

Even if I was single, two things I definitely would not be looking for in a romantic and intimate match is

1. Someone almost old enough to be my father
2. A fundamental Christian.

On the other hand a 50 year old devote Christian, paired with a 28 year old Goddess worshiping Heathen, would make for some really good reality TV.

I was tempted to e-mail him something back as a joke.

You reminded me what a friend who had come back from his service in the Navy told me many years ago. He said that sailors have this philosophy, that they will go up to a 20 women in a bar and without even starting a conversation ask them to bed. 19 of them will probably say no and maybe even give you a smack. But there will be that one. At least that's the sailor's take on things.

That is one way of looking at things. Though I wonder where he even came acorss my e-mail address and how he even knew I was a female.

How about a 59 year old not fearing God enough Christian who harbors slightly unorthodox desires for a certain well thought of moderator? Always amused by these types that slap the word Christian next to their name like it's a Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval. There are some wonderful fundamental Christians out there and then there are not. I have scars from both. Good entry.

I ge these types of emails to I often wonder if anyone actually replys to them and where they come from. Muse it is funny that you mention the age thing. My girlfriends and I were out to dinner last night (without the boys) and we were talking about what our top age limit would be with men (we are all over 30 and I am 39 next month) we all said 50 max so it is no surprise that the 50 was enough to make you hit delete.

The religious thing would be enough to
scare me off. How random. I agree,
somehow money (in theory) makes someone
    even slightly interesting.

If its too good to be true, its false. The internet aids people to be false, and meeting people is hard enough in person...be cautious.

It must be true than because from my perspective it ain't that good!

To Joreads and Jersea yes, the combination of the age thing and the religion thing were huge red flags to me. Though of course I would not have responded even if those two things were not a factor, those two things just made it a whole lot more amusing.
