Breathe Dammit

Rate this Entry
She crossed the narrow frontier
at the elastic border of Heaven
which, as is well known,
expands and contracts with God's every breath

Even a shallow cough balloons to save
countless nearly worthy souls

As she stood, very close,
peering in, as best she could,
God, distracted, cleared His throat
and let her in

  1. The Comedian's Avatar
I really liked the central, humorous image in this poem (G-d hacking up a ball of phlegm) as a glimpse into heaven. It nearly captures the ethereal of G-d and the slimy existence of his that we live in. . . .
  2. Virgil's Avatar
Yes, I agree with Comedian, this is mavelously imaginative, visual, and paced very well. Good one Hack!
