I use facebook. Though the only reason why I use it is so that I can get updates from friends and have a useful event planner. That's about it. I do also idiosyncratically adjust my 'Top 100' movie list on my account (which is provided by Flixter). Usually just for the hell of it I always keep a facebook tab open. Kinda a habit.

Well, it looks like I've broken the rules. My facebook account has been disabled. Maybe it was because I once posted an update in Chinese characters and the authorities mistook it for spam. (No, they're not that stupid.)

Well, it turns out I'm not the only one facebook is screwing over, there are dozens and dozens of hits on Google with confused facebook-users asking the same thing: "Why the hell was my account disabled?"

As it turns out, facebook has seemed to take on a somewhat Gestapo agenda on spammers and has over-protected its precious website.

    Btw, what really pisses me off more than anything is that they deleted my account without even notifying or emailing me, without stating any purpose or reason. What kind of professional multi-million dollar corporation does that? Hell, lit-net, which is far from being anything close to a multi-million dollar corporation I assume would at least send a notification or reason as to why you were banned.

    Facebook is being extremely unproffesional. Does it have any idea how many people rely on it for important matters (such as business and whatnot) and how screwed they just made their day when they couldn't access their now deleted account?

    Sorry, db; I would think they would understand, but then simple common sense seems to be a rare commodity in the business world.

    Maybe they meant to delete one of the other 226 Daniel Benoits, and they deleted you by mistake?

    Yeah, lol, you got banned for writing in a foreign language. The world as run by computers!

    I have a FB friend from Hong Kong and everything she posts in in Chinese characters. I never know what's going on with her. I try to guess from the pictures. It seems like if she can post in Chinese characters you should be able to.

    Haha, poor DB! I have myspace, btw. But I just use it mostly to check out new bands.

    I only have facebook because of pressure from my ex to make one. I hate it with a passion.

    Just as an update in case anyone cares, I got my account back after emailing them. I think I caught an apology somewhere in there but I still think they're embarrassingly unproffesional, especially since the same thing has happened to what I guess may be thousands of innocent facebook users.

    Btw Pip, I think somebody may have hacked into your facebook account, unless you are in fact sending me ads to get a free Ipad.

    Wow. My friend Curtis didn't get banned the time that he posted a picture of him being straddled by a topless stripper. I always thought that getting banned from facebook was impossible.

    And yet the people I report for abuse and threatening others through Facebook still have their accounts... unfair world!
