Letter to a Future Husband

Something I was inspired to write just for fun after a conversation with my mother.
"Though you may never know it,
you would make somebody the perfect wife"
She said.
"I have always been more of guy"
I replied.
There was laughter among the silence
but I knew more than you could imagine.
I have always been low maintenance.
I don't wear fancy clothes
gold and diamonds hold no appeal
I can fix my hair in five minutes
and dress in less.
"Do I look fat in this?"
Frankly, I don't care
so I will never ask.
You held up a shirt and asked
"What do you think?"
I shrug my shoulders, I kind of like it,
but I reply"
"I will just say it won't fit
to save the trouble of trying it on"
I like my shopping to be goal oriented
go in with a cause, and get out quick.
I treat the mall as if it were plague infested.
We can sleep beneath the stars
I will encourage you to wear your hair long
and we can both forget now and than to shave.
I won't care what you decide to wear
and you will let me dress as I please
we will be sons and daughters of the earth
both natural and free.
We will make checking out other women
a joint activity. I will lean over
and say to you:
"Look, now she is hot"
and you will agree.
I am not afraid to get dirty and you know
I will readily agree to any outdoor
adventure you can come up with.
I have no use for gaggles of
gossiping girlfriends
I don't want pedicures, manicures
or massages.
And I can be both your lover
and your best guy friend.
