Sweet Erin
I
Far across the distant sea
there is a lady all dressed in green
who will ever hold my heart,
along the shores neath misty waters
where the winds cry like voices
of the fairy sprits she dances free of heart,
with a wildness in her eyes that nare will depart
through the ages she suffered and struggled,
her body trod neath the feet of countless invaders
reaping of her beauty while forsaking her children,
but she has known of love and countless joys as well,
and nare can her spirit be broken,
behind her eyes mysteries held
and whisperers of a warriors cry
of those who can never truly die
where their bodies fall their soul returns to her again.
II
Mother of art, sweet muse to the bards enchanting song,
forever just out of reach of my fingertips
hiding behind her veil of mist
ever will I hold her in my dreams,
for my Emerald Queen love is beyond eternal
it is as ethereal as the ghosts of those
long ago that wore her favors strong in battle for her honor
and on this day of all days
and from here to ever after
in the core of my being I carry her name.
