The Glimpses of the Moon is one of those books so well written, I HAD to set it down. Nick and Susy Lansing's beautiful love and struggle to fully understand and realize it is perfectly written by Wharton. The Lansing's struggle became my own: their fight for their morals, their fight to understand themselves, and their fight to understand each other. And when this happens, I have to put the book down. But it is also books like this that I must pick up again. Wharton is a master at portraying the inner struggles and emotions of those who aren't rich enough to achieve everything they believe they desire. She makes her audience pity and understand the characters, even when they cannot pity or understand themselves. and she allows her audience to see the materialistic, class-based world that she was forced to live in. This novel is beautiful, tragic, comedic, and, best of all, wonderfully happy. Well done, Edith Wharton.
