I originally read this book for my World Literature class as a semester project. I had already read The Man in the Iron Mask and enjoyed it, so I figured another Dumas novel would be appropriate. At first I was intimidated by the length of the book, but from the moment I began reading page 1, I was hooked. The plot kept taking different twists and turns, and I loved how everything was intertwined. It just shows how life really is; you can find connections in the oddest places. Personally, I didn't have too much difficulty with the names of characters and different personas of Edmond Dantes, and I can understand why the book was so long. Dumas went into great detail with the plot, so it was certainly not going to be a short novel. I'd recommend this book to anyone who has the time to read it.
