It was the fleur-de-lis, burned onto her skin. it was a mark of her past crimes and helped warn others that might be seduced by her.

Wasn't it a Fleur d'lis? Like the symbol for Quebec?

The fleur de lis is the symbol of Québec, but back then it was a punishment for crimes and a symbol meant to warn people. Obviously it was a bad thing to have a fleur de lis branded on your arm.

The point of the fleur de lis burned into Milady's skin was neither that it was a lily, nor that it was just a random symbol, but had actual purpose. This punishment was not served solely to those who have murdered, but to all who had committed any kind of treason; thus the reasoning behind it since the fleur de lis was the symbol for the king of France, or the royalty, etc...also, each Musketeer wore a tunic in blue with a gold fleur de lis, which was Dumas' point...to create foreshadowing as to her death after having loved a musketeer at one point, and to create a certain irony that the very branding which punished her for her crime was eventually related to her undoing.
What was the flower that was pinned or burned on the lady's dress for being an adulterer?
